I woke up to see a beautiful Amaryllis bulb in bloom for me. This one is 'Tres Chic'. It sure is nice to have a fresh flower on a snowy day. It looks like the deer have come up to the window to take a peek at this delicious snack for them to eat.

Very pretty!

I have the same issue with moose... I just hope they respect the glass!

That's lovely Donna. It's so nice to see them staying warm 'outside'.
That one looks like 'Appleblosom'.

This is La Paz. I have had this bulb for 9 years and it has bloomed reliably for me.

Wow, love the amaryllis pics. Lots of people in the neighborhood grow them outside instead of tulips. They do leave kind of a mess when done blooming unless you plant something else in front.
Everyone’s camellias are opening and the deciduous magnolias are fully out. Definitely an early spring.

I agree that they are not so lovely when they are finished blooming. Kinda like Daylilies they leave us with this long strapping foliage that is an eye sore to look at. While mine are not grown outdoors in beds, I do bring them out for the summer and have to find somewhere to hide them because they not look so very pretty to look at then.

The amaryllis that typically bloom around Easter are either blooming now or about to. This bloomed this morning.

oh that is beautiful.
Mine is just showing color. the plain old red one. I have had for almost 30 years now, the pot is huge and bulbs are so crowded. every year I say I am going to divide it. ha. hasn't happened yet. it is just a hugely full pot. some of the bulbs are so big they throw up two flower stalks.

Donna that one is a species amaryllis from Brazil which is called 'Papilo'. Papilo means Butterfly. Unlike many amaryllis this plant is evergreen.

if I can get it loaded...
well, I can't. maybe someone can explain how I can do this, I cannot figure it out...
is there a pixel size limit for the photo? I see a littl caution symbol at the end of the attachment bar. what size should the file not exceed?

If you are uploading a picture from your computer it isn't hard at all once you have done it. Use the 'Full Editor & Preview' button select 'attachments' from the left hand side and then you can just drag and drop your photo or if you would rather there is a button to upload files from your computer.
