The PM feature is very hit and miss. I "think" you will see the message in your "Outbox" until Marsha opens it, if it's successful. Then it goes to your "Sent" box, after she opens it. I've had a few unsuccessful attempts at PMs, where nothing showed up anywhere. When it has worked for me, it did the "Outbox", then "Sent" thing.

Yes, pm's will remain in your outbox until the recipient opens them and then they will go to your sent box.
I'm not sure why you are having trouble getting pm's out. In the beginning of this site I had trouble posting. If I did a preview and then hit the submit button they would go through. So try that and see if it works better for you.
