I had a neighbor once ask me if I wanted some old venison that was ground up for chili meat.
About 40 pounds worth.
Been in the freezer for almost a year.
Probably okay for dogs to eat.
You bet I'll take it and the dogs didn't get any.

I've had reindeer weiners before in Alaska.
They were pretty good.

Yeah a year is usually not a problem for straight venison. Fat goes rancid in the freezer before the protein, so venison fares better than most other meats.

Now I'm hearing Oscar Mayer is coming out with a meatless Weiner.
They say plant based.
I say meatless.
Somebody else go first.

This time it's Nathan's.
I never liked them before because they were too salty.
Then all hot dogs got too salty.
But since I started cooking them in water to wash the salt out first I'm going to give them another chance.
I honestly don't know what the best hot dog Weiner is anymore.
I might try making my own.
Yeah, all hotdogs are too salty, but what are you gonna do when you crave one, once a month.

I rate them...

Number 1 - Nathan's Famous
Tied for 2nd - Sabrett
Tied for 2nd - Hebrew National

There are a whole bunch of mediocre hot dogs, then...

2nd to last - Bar S
Last place - Sugardale

Those, I believe, are all national brands. Some regional brands that I've heard of...I've never seen.

There are worse hotdogs, but the street vendors will not reveal their secrets.
