Since I just started my seeds earlier this week and we just got our hopefully last snow storm, I have nothing better than declare a winner for the first seeds to germinate. The first is....... Drumroll

Pomodoro Cuore Antico di Acqui Terme!

With a close second place finish for California Sun Gold

Amazing tomato!!! I grew for the first time last year and posted on it. It was added to my list of must grows!

My first up was True Colours, a Karen Oliver tomato that I am excited to try after LOVING Cowboy. My runner up was Sunsugar who has always placed first in previous years. Excited for the growing season!

The burning question for @OmarLittle & @CrazyAboutOrchids? How soon after you's put 'em under the lights did you's start checking them?

The Gotch

Funny, I grew True Colours last year and really liked it, this year I'm growing Cowboy for the first time.

My first up was the Estamino rootstock.

Mine sit on a heat mat on my dryer - in a laundry closet, not a real room. I check them numerous times a day. Sometimes with a flashlight and my reading glasses on now that I am getting older. I pot up into solo cups and then they go under lights; led lights.

Cowboy was just amazing last year. Great size, great production and oh my... the flavor! Beautiful to boot! My husband said we should just give up on variety in the garden and plant all Cowboy. I hope you enjoy as much as we did. How was True Colours for you?

I started checking 3 days after I planted them and the first one came up on day four. Now that they have sprouted it's multiple times a day of course

I had to Google that to see what that variety looks like and now I'll have to add that to my extremely long, 'I want that really bad' tomato seed list.

I don't even remember which of my tomatoes was first to germinate.

First to germinate this year goes to Wes, on Day 4.
Most uniform germination (meaning all or nearly all of the seeds germinated together) goes to Cuostralee and Caspian Pink.

True Colours tasted great and looked beautiful, probably the tastiest tomato of the year. The production wasn't very good but then half of the tomatoes in the greenhouse barely produced. I think it was just a bad year or potentially something in the soil, which is why I'm grafting the OPs this year.

TomatoNut95.... There's a pic of Pomodoro Cuore Antico di Acqui Terme with Howard German in this thread - it's my post #7. I have large hands. It's an amazing tomato! viewtopic.php?p=107197&hilit=Pomodoro+C ... me#p107197 I can't seem to find my photos area or I would repost the actual picture.
