Hello all. Bare with me as i am in a completely different galaxy when it comes to being on a forum. To tell you a little about myself.. i waa blessed in life enough to not only know my grandparents but my great grandparents as well. My maternal great grandmother as well as my paternal grandfather is where my love of gardening began. I have so many fond memories of them both in their gardens. Each growing something different than the other did. Nut neither of them ever knew about any other types of tomatoes or the varities aside from the typical classic red or yellow tomatoes. Unfortunately they had both passed before i learned how many varities are out there. We love to grow uncommon tomatoes and peppers in addition to all the other unique garden varities. We live in a tiny little rural town in Missouri and sell plants and produce at our local farmer's market so we can bring those unique varities to the hands of our community. I honestly DIDN'T think many folks would be interested in trying such oddities but to my pleasant surprise our elders have been the biggest supporters and most enthusiastic about trying them!! I am always on the hunt for new things and to learn new techniques. Had my great gran known of some of the "gardening hacks" used today it sure would've made things much easier on her in her half acre garden she grew and tended herself all those years. I don't know how she managed that large of a garden even into her 80s.. in her early 90s she had reduced it down to just 1/4th the size it once was. By the time she was 95 she had reduced it to only growing a few tomatoes and a few zucchini plants. When she left this world at the age of 99 and a half years old she had 7 grandkids, 22 great grandkids and 17 great great grandkids to which only 2 of us have shown a love for gardening. Only 1 of us cans/preserves and it's not me! Anyways just wanted to tell a little about myself and say hello to fellow growers!!

Hello and a warm welcome to the Junction @ellalee2421. My grandfather started me down the tomato road too, many many years ago. We have a lot of fun around here and we like to learn and share. Jump on in and enjoy!

@ellalee2421 Welcome to the forum. My aunt, who was born around Poplar Bluffs and lived a number of years in Elsinore, Missouri got me interested in growing vegetables. She lived to the ripe old age of 97 and up until she passed, she was busy tending a small patch. What part of Missouri are you located in?

Welcome to the forum! I knew my great grandparents as well and they both had a garden out here. My grandmother took it over and both my mother and I worked in it as years passed. Both my great grand parents have passed and the garden area has been abandoned and it's now overgrown. I wasn't able to start growing from seed until I was given a greenhouse several years ago.

Welcome originally from Texas and live here now.
But at one time for about 5 years I lived 10 miles north of Mountain Grove Missouri off highway 95 turn left on W then onto Moore road.
Oddly enough I live off highway 95 in Bastrop Texas now.
After the 6th grade we moved to south eastern Oklahoma in the mountains about 10 miles from Talihina another small town and took up farming and ranching there.
I only got to see my grandma on my dad's side.
None of the other grandparents.
Either too far away or passed away.
My dad was old enough to be my grandfather being born in 1914 and me being born in 1958.
Still plenty of older folks around to learn from though.
Welcome from Central Texas.
