Good heavens all these new names! Maybe he's hiding out with Miss Scarlet in the Kitchen With the Knife
Let's ask @Tormato he should know.

Now you have all of us wanting to know what the outcome of this “mystery” is. Do tell! I recently acquired seeds for Miss Scarlet and will be growing it this year. I’m “dying” to find out about Professor Plum.

While growing out Miss Scarlet in the Kitchen with a Knife, two of us got plum tomatoes rather than the round shape. One was called Professor Plum in the Dining room with a Knife. So the elusive Professor Plum is an unstable plump plum.

Are there any other “clue themed” tomatoes? I have the Miss Scarlett in the kitchen but now I’m wondering if there are others besides these two?

I recieved a few seeds last year and grew 2 plants for the professor plum. Unfortunately both produced red round globe shaped tomatoes that cracked easily. Both were grown in a 35 gal mineral tub with a good layer of mulch to help retain moisture levels. Am in central MO zone 6b/6a.

Professor Plum was, and the last of the seeds this year are, released as a first generation of the plum-shaped tomato that originated from a Miss Scarlet In The Kitchen With The Knife grow out. It is nowhere near being stable. I don't know if there are any successive generations of seeds producing a plum-shaped tomato, out there. Perhaps I'll start some of my earliest MSITKWTK saved seeds to see what shows up.
A Colonel Mustard (no room or weapon, yet) is somewhat in the works, as is a Mr Green. I don't know if I want to go with a Dr Orchid, who has a PhD in plant toxicology!
Finding suitable prospects/suspects in my garden is fairly easy. Naming them is far more...

They are mixed in with the Bacon Lettuce And ... themed seeds, Mack The Knife themed seeds, ...
"Scarlet Billows" and "Never Never A Trace Of Red" should be easy finds. I don't know about doing a "Cement Bag", though.
... and, there are a few other themes for me to work on.
In the fall, I can go through my gallon bucket of experimental seeds. I'll try to send whatever you request.

Other than Professor Plum (shape, not color) the others should be following the colors found within their names. It might get a bit complicated, with some variation between the England (Clueo) and America versions. And then there is variation in the colors of the game board pieces, too.Julianna wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 1:26 amOh gosh. Now i want the whole set! I am so curious what the others will be like. This is the 1949 version i have and always liked. This project is so exciting. Will you be aiming for hearts or will it just be whatever was best?Tormahto wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 9:28 am Other than Professor Plum (shape, not color) the others should be following the colors found within their names. By myself, this would likely be a long term project. Without actually making any crosses, I'm at the mercy of what colors and shapes show up in my garden. I'm not set on any particular tomato shape, like hearts. Preference would be towards a fairly accurate color, easy with Mrs White, Mr Green, Col. Mustard and the already released Miss Scarlet. Mrs Peacock? I have no idea, there. And, I'd like the flavors to be very good +.Julianna wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 10:46 amThis is the 1949 version i have and always liked. Then, there are all of the other characters, new, old (a never used Mr Brown, a Rusty Nayler, etc...). In waiting for a Mrs White to show up, maybe a rust colored tomato will, first.
I'd greatly welcome others to partake in the project, a group having much more access to potential candidates, than just me, alone.

If i was in a warmer place i would be all over it! That and minus the battery plant fire residue all over us now. Still, this is exciting news to me.Tormato wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 12:13 pmBy myself, this would likely be a long term project.
