Carbon capture lost the battle when I had 3 big spruce trees cut down so I can make my garden bigger.
Gardening is an addiction and I was jonesing for more tomato plants.

You can make up for it @slugworth by adding compost to the dirt every year.
Depends in part on soil type how much gets sequestered long term. But still.
AgCan Zone 5a/USDA zone 4
temperate marine climate
yearly precip 61 inches/1550 mm

I can water the new garden with rainwater via gravity from the storage tank.
So I get a few points for not having to use a pump.
1/2 that soil is virgin soil that I had a brush pile rotting over.
So that was added goodies already.

The 1st year pilgrims used to cut the bark off trees to kill the tree, then planted under the dead tree.
The 2nd year they would build a fire around the base to fell the tree, like Tom Hanks in castaway.
The 3rd year they would dig up the stumps/roots.
I am at the 1st year stage with better sunlight.

I have a small auger bit for battery powered drill,I could just do a drill and fill with plants- avoiding roots.
