I did it with cucumbers one year.

I have seven zucchini plants and they're still at the 'all boys' stage... too bad you're not across the road.

I can't participate this year, the young bucks have eaten me out of house and home.

heck they don't even have to sneak them. i haven't a single one yet. cool weather in june
and july have had the plants just sitting there wondering when is summer coming. they are
bulking up a bit now, but still no squash yet. cucumbers are finally starting to go. picked three
so far, more on the way.

I'm just now getting a few Cocozelles - so far I've picked them all when fairly small (cleverly!).
But at my friend's farm, I'm told there are baseball bats lurking, if I can only find a use for them.

What are your favorite Zuke recipes?
We used to make a mean Eggplant parmesan, and I'm thinking to try something like that with Giant Zuke instead.

I like zucchini fritters, but my DH does not, so I had to find other ways to use the harvest. I usually make a simple dish which also he likes to eat and it uses also tomatoes. I slice zucchini, tomatoes and low fat non melting cheese and put the slices standing in a row in the baking dish by alternating zuke, tomato and cheese. I usually use cheese which is like halloumi, but made just from cows' milk. I sprinkle seasoned salt, garlic powder and grated parmesan on the top and bake it in the oven until zucchini is tender.

Another thing which I like to make is the sweet zucchini bread or use grated zucchini in bread rolls.

One year my sister planted a bunch of zucchini seeds, and got like 17 plants. She gave us so much zucchini (full-sized). What we did with it was turn into sauce (for such as mock applesauce).

To make it taste like applesauce, add citric acid, nutmeg, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Of course, it tastes like it's seasoned for apple pie, though.

After an Off'n The Charts Zuke Season (pulled the last two (2) vines Tuesday, ~3 weeks later than usual), we still have ten (10) plus fruits.

One of our faves is the nothing fancy/effortlessly simple Zukes Fries, cut into ~3/4"/2cm "fries", seasoned, and broiled to tender crisp/al dente.

Do you have those nasty squash vine borers? I had trouble growing zucchini in our garden in Southeast Wisconsin because of those darn bugs and in the beginning I had no idea why those gray bugs were mating on my squash vines. Luckily here we do not have such bugs, but short frost free season is a bit of a challenge for growing cucurbits.

OK, now I remember that the gray bugs were the squash bugs, which suck the vines from outside. But we did also have the borers, because I remember finding the larvae inside squash stems. There were so many different pests attacking my garden, that I got them mixed up.
