Question: Is "Dester's" and "Dester's Amish Beefsteak" the same tomato?

Tatianna only lists Dester. Dester is the family that had the seeds. It is described as a pink beefsteak originating from Germany and shared with their housekeeper and was shared with several people after that. SSE states that their seeds came from a farmer from Missouri who got them from the Dester family house cleaner who was described as "Amish". Baker Creek tells the same story almost word for word ( which came first, Baker Creek says they got the seeds first). Dester is marketed as "Dester" by SSE, Reimer's and Baker Creek without the Amish tag. Maybe somewhere else it has acquired the Amish.

Thanks, Paul. After researching a little further, I see that I purchased "Dester's Amish Beefsteak" from Pierce Farm, in 2012. I'll have to see if I can find the original seed envelope, but my guess is I purchased my seeds directly from Larry Pierce, the Missouri farmer who donated them to SSE. Sooo, I think they are most likely the same tomato. Now where's that darn envelope...!

@MissS Interesting. Do you happen to remember when you bought yours? I bought mine in 2012.

The first that I read about it was that it was called Dr. Dester, and the name was shortened soon after.
One, of not very many superb (9+) tomatoes, that I've trialed.

I have already decided Dester will be on the next grow list. Thanks everyone.
