I'm always the last person to hear about something.
This time it's pet buttons where you train the cat or dog to communicate with you by putting their paw in a button and it says something.
It reminds me of the mountain gorilla that was able to communicate.
Some scientists don't think pets understand what we are saying but I think they're wrong.
They say the animal picks up on body language or some such rot.
It they just do it for treats.
I've never given a dog treats to train it or a cat.
My old dog Boo Boo and my cat Smokey would have loved these talk buttons.
They say dogs don't feel guilty.
I think that's hogwash also.
Boo Boo loved bread and if I left it within reach he would steal it.
If I walked up on him during the theft he would drop it out of his mouth put his head down and mope off.

if scientists dont' think animals don't understand us when we
talk to them, they should watch a dogs reaction to the words
treat, walk, car ride, supper, SQUIRRRELLLLLL.

for starters

Those button boards are fascinating. I've watched videos from people whose cats and dogs use them regularly. One cat objected to a couple of little-used words being taken away. Another one tried to make the human understand that a crucial door needed to be opened, even without enough vocabulary to ask clearly. They ask for specific toys, or specific outings.
