My pepper growing ideas are evolving with each season. Gatherer’s Gold ended up being a very positive revelation and it might have been just luck since I found a delicious recipe where ripe peppers get blistered in a hot skillet and then sprinkled with Parmesan. So now, I want to explore not only growing Gatherer’s Gold again, but other similar no heat sweet peppers that can get the same treatment in the skillet. Frank’s pepper was good in flavor, but the plants are relatively tiny and not especially vigorous as summer progresses. Gatherer’s Gold was a much more robust plant. Calabrian Caviar was initially very nice, but like many sweet and bell peppers, the fruit themselves shrink too much as the heat of mid summer arrives. Jimmy Nardello, good early, not vigorous as season matures, disease prone.
