I know the breeder. High integrity, and a fantastic genetics knowledge. He breeds for disease resistance and great flavor. He's so talented. I got his Beefy Red before he named it, and it's first rate. I grow it year after year. I'm looking forward to Beefy Purple next year.

Now, that there's good news; thanks! It doesn't say whether it's a hybrid, or not.

This says it's open-pollinated:

This page says the Cream of the Crop series is mostly planned to be F1 hybrids:

@Ginger2778
If it's not private information, I'd love to know who the breeder is.

@Shule, sounds like a definite maybe; at the risk of getting too far over my skis, is it safe to save seed?

Small world! I thought I recognized that 437 telephone exchange from the 608 area code; A.P. WHALEY, LLC, and Frogsleap Farms has a nursery just SW of here in Mt. Horeb, WESconsin!

When we break outta this here Deep Freeze, I may just take a trip out there.

@Cornelius_Gotchberg
It should be very safe, as far as I can tell. Most commercial OP tomatoes grow true-to-type.

I was looking at this one the other day and passed. I have enough new to me varieties to grow out. It looks very good though.

This one is so tempting. I saw it in the Botanical Interests rack at the local hardware store and almost got it.

Huh. They call it a hybrid here:

Maybe they're going by the defintion of a stabilized hybrid.
