Hi all, was searching for World Tomato’s but see no longer exists and found this site, looks promising.
I am in South Oxfordshire UK and have been growing all sorts of tomatoes for the past 50yrs.
I like to grow unusual varieties plus couple of old favourites.
I have relatives in Michigan, Detroit and Waterford.
Have just sown this afternoon 14 different varieties, some origins USA and Mexico.
I grow garlic near my tomatoes, Basil and Tagetes to keep away pests. I also have 3 Blight Resistant varieties and smallest tomato.
Seed is getting very expensive and small quantities, usually about 10 seeds, I have grown grafted Tomatoes, good results but again expensive.

Welcome to the Junction @Tickydew. We have lots of very knowledgeable people here to help you and make long lasting friends with. I too interplant to deter the insects and have pretty good luck with it too. Glad to hear that spring has reached you and that you are starting your garden now.

greetings from the snowy U.P. of michigan.
got my start in life in detroit. a great, great, great grandfather and his brother
immigrated to detroit from a farm in england, and settled on a farm on grand river
in 1861. i now live on a farm in the keweenaw peninsula. little tougher growing
conditions but i manage. it will be about another month before tomato seeds get started.

Welcome Tickydew from across the pond.

50 years is a long time growing tomatoes. What are your old favorites for South Oxfordshire?
People at the forum here are avid seed savers and seed traders and... okay, seed enablers. Lots of seeds flowing about.
Looking forward to hear about your setup, which I bet is now just the way you like it, after so many years.

Welcome @Tickydew from N. Florida! Born and raised Detroiter but it’s a lot better to have a 12 month growing season now.
My tomatoes are just about ready to go into grow bags; just trying to find the time.

Hello from North West UK. I get most of my blight resistant hybrids from Premier Seeds Direct (
https://premierseedsdirect.com/), they are much cheaper than most other big seed shops. Otherwise I wait for Suttons/DT Brown/Mr Fothergills to have their £1 seed sales, which come around a few times a year.

Welcome Tickydew.
Seeds here are often free, so long as the quantities fit in an envelope, and the requester PMs their wish list and mailing address.
