Shule's wantlist
Posted: Sat Apr 19, 2025 6:46 pm
I've decided to put my wantlist on TomatoJunction for future reference, if I do trades. I'm not actively seeking trades with this post, particularly, but if you're in the USA, you see something I want, and you have it, I might be open to a trade (especially if you're offering the Brandywine Orange tomato, Apricot Brandywine tomato, Liso Calcutta gherkin, Golide groundcherry; or Verticillium-resistant stuff that I don't have). If you want to recommend any items to me to go on my wantlist, feel free! I'm open to suggestions (although I do have a lot of stuff already, so I might already have it); please say why you think it should be on my list.
I have a havelist, too (prepared on the day I wrote this post), but I'm not publishing it out in the open (if we do a trade, I can share it with you). Also, take a look at my 2025 growlist to see what I'm growing, because I may have a lot of seeds from those later this year (2025). Some of those I already have a lot of seeds for, though.
Gherkins:
• Jamaican
• Liso Calcutta
Ground cherries:
• Goldie
Herbs:
• summer savory
Muskmelons
• Ashkahabad (isolated)
• Verticillium-resistant melons
Peppers:
• Aji Dulce 1
• Verticillium-resistant sweet peppers (not crossed with hot peppers)
Sunflowers (not grown with dissimilar types):
• Large-seeded sunflowers
• Red sunflowers
Tomatoes:
• Absinthe
• Apricot Brandywine
• Atkinson
• Aunt Ginny's Orange
• Bacon Lettuce and This
• Beefy Red (OP; striped): https://awhaley.com/product/cream-of-th ... beefy-red/
• Big Ben
• big striped (not bicolor) tomatoes (striped as in Green Zebra, Jazz, and Girl Girl's Weird Thing)
• Bill Bean
• Brandokee
• Brandywine (Glick's Strain)
• Brandywine (Joyce's)
• Brandywine (Pawer's)
• Brandywine (Sudduth's Strain); from Johnny's Selected Seeds in particular (I have another source for it already)
• Brandywine Brandy Berry: https://bountyhunterseeds.com/product/b ... ry-tomato/
• Brandywine from Croatia
• Brandywine Orange: https://www.totallytomato.com/product/T00109/85
• Brandywine Purple

• Chianti Rose

• Dr. Carolyn Pink
• Earl's Faux
• Enroza F1
• Fox (the cherry tomato)
• Gary'O Sena
• GinFiz F1

• Lucky Cross
• Maya and Sion's Airdrie Classic
• Maylor Roth's Orange Brandywine: https://bountyhunterseeds.com/product/m ... ne-tomato/
• Pearmech (like a bigger and earlier version of Napoli; resists VF; it was bred and sold by Ferry-Morse; tolerance to some air pollution; meant for the Eastern USA, the midwest, and the west coast; see <https://cucurbit.info/2016/06/tomato-j-r/>; it was mentioned in publications from at least 1977 to 2004)
• Purple Brandy / Marizol Bratka
• Purple Brandywine
• Striped Sweetheart
• Striped Sweetheart Dark
• Vintage Wine (striped; red)
• Yoder's German Yellow
Watermelons (isolated or purchased):
• Black-seeded Ice Cream
• Desert King
• Navajo Winter
• O'odham Soam Miliñ
• Tohono O'odham yellow-meated
• Wintermelon
• particularly Verticillium-resistant watermelons (if they exist)
* any winter watermelons (besides Citron-types), as long as they've only been grown with other winter types (so, they can be a winter cross with another winter)
Note about tomatoes: The ideal tomatoes I'm looking for (if you have something that isn't on my list) would be open-pollinated, large, round, red, striped, prolific, indeterminate (or semi-determinate), with a favorable fruit-to-foliage ratio (other colors, especially oranges, yellows, and peach-colors, would also be great) with resistance to Verticillium, late blight, TSWV (and similar), TYLCV, and anthracnose. I'm not looking for any green-when-ripe tomatoes, nor any cherry tomatoes besides Dr. Carolyn Pink and Fox.
If you just want to trade from seeds I've purchased, that's great, too. I purchased new seed this year.
