Hello folks. I'm a retired guy tending a few tomatoes and peppers in the suburbs. I haven't posted in a long time but I check in regularly. My short grow list this year is one Galahad, three Big Beef Plus and one cross between Cherokee Purple and Lillians yellow all in big pots with cages. One Super Shepherd sweet pepper and one Anaheim. So far so good!

Greeting from Yorkshire too!
I'm also a retired guy, and I really struggle to cut the list of Toms I'd like to grow down to the 18 which will fit in the Greenhouse.

Glad to see you join in. :)
That Super Shepherd pepper is amazingly good. For several summers now, I've been getting baskets of them at the supermarket, grown in Ontario. And it is just the best all round thick walled pepper I've ever had. As tasty and sweet as the thinner walled heirlooms, way better than any bell, and just huge, generous peppers. Do you grow them often?
I had some seeds from a swap, but they didn't germinate.
Then I saved some seed from the bought peppers last year but I didn't start any peppers yet and it's a bit late, so will probably have to wait a year. I think they must be fairly late and large plants, to manage the production of such peppers..

I was looking for a thick walled sweet pepper and saw Craig LeHullier was impressed with Super Shepherd years ago. I got the seeds from Southern Exposure. Between pepper Weevils and TSW peppers are a challenge but I keep trying.

I grew Super Shepherd 3-4 years in a row eight or nine years ago and thought it was pretty good. I think I used to get the seed from Stokes Seeds. Getting ready to pot up my Anaheim seedlings in the next few days. Sounds like we have similar likes with peppers. :D
