Hello from SE Louisiana!

Hello all!
I moved from Oregon to New Orleans last year and had a rough first year trying to grow tomatoes in the humid and hot climate. I didn't even know I was so spoiled in Oregon! I can't give up my obsession with tomatoes though so will keep on trying this year. If anyone else is from a similar area (Zone 9b) and have tips, please let me know! I have to plant in ground because my grow space is in a community garden. Tomatoes I'm trying this year are Stump of the World, Sun Gold, Sweet Million, L. hirsutum, Creole, and S. spontaneum.
I grow other things too! HOT peppers, eggplants, herbs, greens, flowers, cucumber and beans!
Looking forward to this "spring/summer" season!

Welcome from Lafayette.
Here's the biggest tip I can give you. Start early to get tomatoes before the heat slows them down and start fall plants in late June.

Hello!
I planted some of my tomatoes a few weeks ago and then we got a random 40F night

Just had 2 more 40F nights so don't know if they're going to make it but still have a few more plants that I can replace them with. Hoping no more cold spells and that the 70s will last for a while.
Will have to try fall tomatoes this year, the one I started last July got blown off our balcony

Is there a time when you pull your spring tomatoes up?

Yes! And people who grew them last year had more than they can eat. I had unsuccessfully grew them in Oregon where it doesn't get nearly hot enough so I didn't think to try down here. I will make space for them once the tomatoes and other plants starts dwindling in the heat.

Welcome! You will certainly find others here who grow in zones 8-10, as well Rajun, who I am sure will be a help.

Welcome to the Junction, I tried to grow okra in WI one time. It might could be done but not in my garden I don't think.
