No MycoGrow this year

Fungi Perfect is following the 'stay at home order' issued by Washington State so there is no production of their products. Their Online Store is closed for the duration.

This will be the first time in many years that I have not used their products. It will be enlightening to see what difference I notice.

I have some left over from last year...wonder if it is still beneficial.

It might be. If I recall, it is viable for a year. I keep mine in the fridge if I need to store it for a long time. So why not give it a try because I do remember once using it after a very long time and I still did see that very fine white 'mist' covering the soil.

Do any of you folks use it in conjunction with Actinovate and BiotaMax? I've been doing some serious reading over at TV and it seems like this mixture is quite effective.

I have not. I do remember reading about it over at TV several years back. I don't think that it was found to be very worthwhile as people stopped doing that or at least they did stop posting about it. Both Actinovate and BiotaMax are rather expensive whereas MycoGrow and some others is affordable for most people.

I didn't know MycoGrow had a expiration time. Does Myco Blast have an expiration also?

Myco Blast is good for 2 years (see link) which is about the same for MycoGrow.

I had some Great White left over from last season, and it was still good - the seed starting mix I put it in quickly developed that white haze on the surface. I used the end of it in a couple of the SIPs today, then I opened the one I got this year - Big Foot. Not much is required - only about 1ΒΌ tsp to an EB.

I was just reading the Actinovate label and it says "do not tank mix" "with chlorinated water". I never noticed this before. I get that as a home gardener I could theoretically use distilled water, but on a practical volume basis, who has access to non-chlorinated water if you don't have your own well? A couple years ago I splurged and was spraying Actinovate as a foliar anti-fungal, I wonder if I killed it when I mixed it with tap water. I mean even when using it as a root treatment I'm going to water it in...with tap water that has chlorine.

The easiest way to dechlorinate water is to allow it to stand in an open topped bucket or drum. If you can aerate the water all the better as the movement will allow the release of the chlorine more freely

Chlorine will dissipate in an open bucket in a couple of days. Chloramine takes much longer. Vitamin C (lemon juice) will kill either.

Yes. When using chlorinated water for fish tanks, you allow the water to sit for 24 hours before adding to allow the chlorine to evaporate.

I have Chlorinated water and use MycoGro too. My water really does not do that much harm as I still get that nice white growth on the top of my soil after I apply MycoGro. I also reapply the product when I transplant outside.

I haven't had a fish tank since I was about 5, so thanks everyone for teaching me that.

I went ahead and bought the boogie brew water filters that attach to hose. I bought 2 - one that is suppose to last 45K gallons and the other 10K gallons. I have 3 hose connections. 1 filter stays put, and the other I just transfer from hose to hose (and living in Florida I water daily). It is so much easier transferring the filter than dragging a hose.

They remove the chlorine and chloramine. Last year, I filled the huge water buckets (27 gallons each) and let the sun dissipate the chlorine knowing full well it doesn't remove the chloramine.

I like having them a lot. Cost for both was $75 purchased at Boogie Brew - I think the same price at Amazon except BB sends you some samples of their brew and insect frass. I got a pound of each.

-----
If you just want chlorine/chloramine removed for just a limited amount of water (not daily watering), there are products that do just that. I bought Microbe Life Dechlorinator for backup but haven't used it yet since my filters are working so well.

Caution: The pressure with water going through the filter is definitely reduced. At Boogie Brew, they show attaching a Ortho Hose end filter (basically for their tea that you brewed but you could do it for fertz, etc), set at level 8 (8 oz per gallon) should get 4 gallons of output. After weeks of watering/feeding this way, I tested into 5 gallon buckets and my output was 16 gallons. I think it had way more to do with the filter reducing the output vs the Ortho Filter being totally wrong.
