Earthquake today

We just had an earthquake here at 5:54-5 PM Mountain Time. My sibling in Nevada about six hours drive away experienced one at the same time. Where was the center of it? Is everyone else okay?

Both of us experienced a mild one that lasted 20-30 seconds. The house shook and made sounds, and some brass fell off the shelf, but that's all I noticed, other than some cool sensations. It felt like some construction was outside on the porch doing something.

I thought someone in the kitchen had some equipment going that was shaking the house, until I thought better of it.

The power didn't go out.

I was young child the last time we had an earthquake here (and I don't remember it).

Sure didn't feel it here in PA, but you definitely had one in Idaho!

Thanks! Looks like it was in Challice, Idaho. That's wild that my sibling in Nevada felt it, too (for about 20 seconds), at the same time. I think it lasted about 25 to 30 seconds here next to Oregon.

I've never felt one...during every visit with my daughter and grandsons in CA I wonder if I will, but nothing so far. One time when we were in CA, all the neighbors felt one at home here in PA, lol!

I felt it up here in Bonner County. Made my recliner feel like I was in a small boat, hanging plants swayed a little, aquarium water was doing a little wave. I also felt the one that was near Challis, like 30 some years ago. This one was a little longer.

Was that the one about 10 years ago that was down in the DC area, that we felt all the way up here in NJ? That was the first/only one I've ever been through, as the OP noted, they were building a new house down the street and at first I thought a dump truck had dumped out a load of rocks or something, then I thought maybe my computer table was wobbling back and forth from something I was doing, so I pushed back, then I realized the bookcases were rocking and the glasses in the kitchen were clinking, then all of a sudden it was over, after 15-20 seconds. It was quite the talk around here.

That's the one! We're in PA but right along the Delaware Canal and can see NJ from the window in the back of our house. We were bummed to have missed it!
