My next door neighbors were there 2 weeks ago. They are so glad that they made it home before these horrific fires. My heart breaks for all of these people. Our system has failed again.

I brought this up at work and people said, 'what fire.
We seriously need to do something about the lack of information getting out to people or something.
Not for sure what.
This was like that horrible fire that just missed my place a few years ago but even worse.
Because some people just didn't have any place to go because of the ocean and the high winds.

Slimy developers already moving in like scavengers even before these people have a chance to get their heads on straight.
I've known native Hawaiians that their grandfathers lived on plantations that are now developments.
Personally I've never been interested in going there due to all the developments and people.
Not my cup of tea.

Such a terrible thing to happen to those people. The destruction is just a shock in the before and after pictures.

I know this crowd might average a little too old for instagram, but these are my close friend’s parents and the house she grew up in.

In spite of the message the link worked for me.

Hawaii, and especially Maui, has always been one of my favorite places. This is horrific, and it seems like they were trying to kill people to steal their land. Apparently, children were sent home from school without parental notification, and police weren't allowing cars to leave the area, resulting in massive death of the people sitting in the cars. It is unbelievable.
SO GLAD to be back! I was locked out for about three months, for some strange reason.

Missed you all terribly!

Nah. There was a lot of incompetence on display, no malice or murder.

The next few weeks and months are going to be a nightmare though. A historic district that was in no way shape or form up to modern building code, a county government that’s suing the oil companies for sea level rise, oceanfront properties owned by influential local millionaires, their buildings literally overhanging the ocean, nearby residential properties owned by local families for generations, and the world’s most incompetent planning and permitting department. Whew, what could go wrong?

I’ll rub some soot on my face and get in line if it means free Spam!

Been trying to find a link to send replacement seeds for home growers on the island.Tried the local seed suppliers and they are out of contact at this time.Proposing photosanitary,Hierloom seeds from our favorites I.e.Dr Male,Tville members,T junction stocks etc.I gots plenty of unopened seed packs.Maybe when they get ready for planting,we can supply some seed stocks.I know of one person on the island no contact as of yet.Thought I would throw it out there.

That's a very nice gesture. It's going to take them awhile to clean up and think about a garden. Hopefully it will be next year.
