What variety is it? Paquebot mentions getting a number of tri-cots with some of his grow outs in the link below.

pondgardner, the tricot variety is Paquebot Roma. That's what I was trying to lock in. Turned out to be a great tomato even without the "hurry-up" gene.

Sun Sugar hybrid, JD's Special C-Tex (large flowers), and Black from Tula (on the cover of Dr. Carolyn' book). For sure I will have tomatoes from Sun Sugar in April.

You will have ripe tomatoes very soon! Lucky you!

Out of desperation I bought a grocery store tomato for sandwiches; like cardboard. No more until mine ripen.

You must just have been REALLY desperate.

Sometimes places like Whole Foods will have heirloom tomatoes. I think it will be May before I get one of the larger sandwich size tomatoes.

And I am excited to see what Not Black from Tula turns out to be, because it isn't Black from Tula.

And it looks like I'm the only one growing African Brown, first time for me.

Sad to say, this actually was a WF ‘heirloom’. No taste at all. I usually restrict myself to cherry and grape store tomatoes when I can’t have mine.

Yes, let us know how African Brown does. I saw that on a few seed sites and wondered about it.

Any reason why tomatoes produce bigger blooms at times?

This is Mortgage Lifter, but I’ve noticed this on other plants as well.

Setting some fruit which is nice. Are the bigger blooms desirable or not? Any way to encourage or discourage? Does everyone leave them be or remove?

When tomatoes are a bit cold they will have fused blossoms. Often you can see where the stem looks doubled but fused together. I take them off because I get too little tomato from catfaced fruits. Others leave them for novelty and don't mind carving them up to get bits of tomato from them.

Are these examples of cat facing? Should I pull these now (still pretty small) or leave until ready to pick?

Beautiful evening in south east Texas. Fun it is watching these grow. Now, if I can keep the critters at bay.
