@Setec Astronomy According to the article linked below, they just started a 100 year project, a couple of years ago. But I didn't see any tomato seeds.

There is an old project that's been conducted on the length of time seeds can be saved. The species of plant has alot to do with it.
If you can store your seeds in a freezer, that really is the best place.

I have a friend from northern California who sent me really old seed from like 2003 or so, and it germinated fine in 2017. I think she just kept them in bead bags (the small clear plastic zipper bags a lot of people use). She had a lot of old seed and didn't have germination problems. My own seed seems to keep fine that way, too (although it's not old enough to compare to 2003 seed).
