My son rescued me from the flames on this one. Could not get out of first gear this morning.

I almost walked away after staring at the rows and having trouble grouping more than two per topic. Did not think I was going to get these. No way would I have gotten those purples except by elimination.

It is rare when we do these in the same color order. Purple is generally the toughest category, but not always for everyone. Some days, these puzzles seem especially easy and straightforward and other days the words seem to be more or less random or fit into categories in multiple ways. Today’s puzzle was an easier one for me.

Even when I get the last purple category right by default, I don't really feel like a legitimate win if I can't guess what the common thread was before I click the last reveal. Today, I had no knowledge of two of the purple blocks.

Getting the purple early makes the rest easier. Usually.
I almost thought one of the categories was fingers. Index, ring, pinky, little. But pinky and little seemed redundant so I had to back off that. That's when the mice connection came to me.

Teasing out the false categories like your fingers example from the true ones is a favorite part of this game. I got hung up the other day when I was certain the category was about species of fish when in reality it was about parts of a shoe.

A few of the purple have been almost ridiculous how obscure they are, but I guess that category is supposed to be difficult.
