I was saying that because the word resembles the French word for grapefruit, and grapefruit are about 12oz.Amateurinawe wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 7:57 am @Shule I know the blackbirds stole some of the labels but I am certain it's not a grapefruit.....it didn't come with a glace cherry so it definitely wasn't.

It is currently green and looks nothing like a grapefruit, but I am hoping it will soon. Grandfather's grapefruit.

An 11 oz Dolly. She has produced lovely tomatoes, but not many, but then she was fashionably late to the party..

Re: AmateurInAwe's Garden
Sadness as this is the last haul of tomatoes, and the greenhouse needs to be tidied (won't take long cos it's tiny)
The front beds need clearing soon but still have carrots, leaks, chillies and celeriac growing - feel some kind of soup coming on soon.
One or two odd yellow cherries with antho on my f2 growout, not sure what happened there.....
(got-it, think it might have crossed with the plant next to it, Dr Carolyn white) That would make it an F1 again

Re: AmateurInAwe's Garden
I have another wild tomato plant coming up.
Plus the store bought green onions i planted 2 years ago are coming on strong.
A perpetual source of green onion tops.
I don't even take care of them.
Just a weed pulled ever now and then.

Orange minsk, one more uniform than the other but in general most were pretty much like the one on the right.

Re: AmateurInAwe's Garden
SMFL is beginning to really bloom, curious to see how this turns out.
Black Russian coming on nicely
Free Limbaugh were so delicious last year, not the prettiest fruit but hopefully it was the bad weather and this year is kinder
Red Indigo F3 likely to be a good producer again. Love the antho showing on the stem.
This is hopefully going to be my first green Spanish tomato, this ain't Spanish weather, hope she is not too homesick

Re: AmateurInAwe's Garden
So the roots discussion made me start thinking whether I needed to adjust the height of my beds and would it be worth it. I can't do lateral root encouragement without cutting down on the number in a bed, and sadly I can't do more beds - I think my neighbour might have something to say about that.
But is a deeper bed worth the expense.
I have two neighbouring plants, two black russian and two fred linbaugh. Similar size, same seed source, both so close the soil composition is identical.
Black Russian Free Limbaugh
So they are established so I shall encourage further root growth on the stem.
Cut my bucket (I showed this one to liza) Place around the stem and secure bucket to ground And fill. I am sure the potted one will do better, with the hilling up of more soil. But will it make much of a difference to warrant raising the depth of my beds next year.
