It won't be long, Worth. The Silverado truck due out next year is reportedly able to travel 400 miles on a single charge. Do you know how many miles you put on in a day?

Yes a little over 100 depending on where the job is at.Sue_CT wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 11:53 am It won't be long, Worth. The Silverado truck due out next year is reportedly able to travel 400 miles on a single charge. Do you know how many miles you put on in a day?

Maybe much more.
But then I never know where they'll send me from one time to the next.
In any given job my coworker and I are usually the last people to leave due to our trouble shooting abilities.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
Sounds like you are actually well within the range of the new pickup ev batteries. It might take overnight to recharge on a 240v outlet, but that is only if the charge is down to about 15%. Much less time if it is at 50% or above, which it sounds like would be likely in your case. Anyway, new trucks are expensive that is for sure, and EVs probably even more so. Not planning on replacing my old PRIUS until it dies in the current car buying climate. Not looking forward to new car payments, increased taxes and a huge jump in insurance costs. But EVs will be on my short list although not 100% for sure. I don't travel long distances very often, and I am looking at retirement in 5 years so not having to pay for gas seems like a good retirement plan, lol. We shall see.

If the company i work for doesn't step up the game im seriously thinking about ditching my job and doing something here in town.
It's ridiculous how they haven't increased wages compared to other jobs.
We have guys leaving left and right for better paying jobs.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
Wages never seem to keep up with the rising costs of living. When they start to go up companies import temporary foreign workers who are not eligible to stay, only to work, which keeps other wages lower than they might be. Meanwhile, companies like those in the meat packing industry have soaring profits .

Don't think the bank closed on the deal yet, but the word on the street is they are accepting his offer.

I believe that the board can recommend the deal to the stockholders, but they have to vote on whether to accept it or not.

Not a fan of this guy, basically another egomaniac rich dude. I think all social media companies need some regulation at this point so I would not shed a tear if it didn't go through.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
But who would be the regulators.
Myself personally I don't have anything to do with any of these media platforms.
And if I did rest assured I would only be doing stuff with cooking and other crafts I'm interested in.
One lady I tried to watch on YouTube about cooking ended up being a sermon for too much of the show.
So instead of saying something in disagreement of her ideology I just simply walked away.
I'll walk from any show for this regardless of whether I agree or not.
I go to them for an escape from life and relax not wallow in it.
So in a nutshell I couldn't care less who owns and controls Twitter.

The people of Austin voted for Project Connect.
Before they have turned over one single pebble the price of the project has doubled.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
@worth1 Right, that’s the trouble with regulating speech, once that’s done it isn’t free is it? Isn’t that why Elon Musk professes he bought Twitter, to stop the censorship going on that popular platform?
I’m against censorship and for people having the first amendment right to say unpopular things. There’s certainly a strong argument to be made these social media platforms are the public square and the first amendment rights should extend to them. I certainly don’t want some governmental appointee bureau overseeing what can and cannot be said and who can and cannot say it. I don’t really like it if the board at twitter, with all their natural built in biases, builds a platform that only allows viewpoints and members that jive with their worldview if that worldview is anything different than a US constitutional bill of rights outlook. No doubt Twitter has a strong censorship model in place currently and for some time now and I hope Elon Musk will improve that situation to one much more reflective of the US constitution.
I don’t pretend to know how the math all works for the proposed planned Rail system in Austin. I’ve ridden on various subways and light rails in Boston, New York, London and even the one here in Houston. I hate driving and looking for and paying for parking in some of these places so the rail is a nice, less hassle more affordable alternative. Seems like when a city gets to a certain size, the subway or light rail comes with the territory. The downside to rail is that you have to ride with some real nut jobs at times. Very Poor hygiene, addicts, and then the criminal elements.

Worth,
How would you feel about everyone on social media having to post using their real name. It's easy to post a lot of misinformation when you're Americanpatriot1776. I personally think everyone should have freedom of speech, but that they must be responsible for what they say.

But then there was a time when you would be arrested for speaking against the church or king.

I took the bus all over California.
They were full.
In Austin they're empty.
Story has it that the new project is going to take out Dirty Martins.

Most people on Twitter do seem to use their own names. Certainly politicians and celebrities do. Hasn't seem to matter. They still post lies and misinformation, hate speech, threats of and calls for violence. They are rarely held accountable for any of it.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
Is was a few years ago they banned three wheel of road vehicles because of several injuries and dearly.
Jump ahead to now and you can see report after report of people being killed on electric scooters.
Just this morning someone was killed on one hit by a car.
These people run stop lights and signs constantly here in Austin.
Years ago I hit someone on a bicycle that ran a stop sign.
It was at night and a dark intersection.
Luckily I wasn't going fast and he got back on his bike and took off before I could even get out of my car.
