Re: POLL: North American Seed Vendors
Only problem I see with that is that some vendors are members. How are they going to react if they are listed by someone as a vendor they don't like? I forsee possible defensiveness and hard feelings. That said, I can see how a list like that could be just as helpful as a list of who they like.

Good points.
Well, for vendor reviews, we could always just use the Garden Watchdog on Dave's Garden, which is pretty established. Gardenweb has a forum for it, too, but it seems kind of redundant when the Garden Watchdog is so popular (granted, making a forum post is easier). If we did something like that, too, it seems like it would just make it harder to find all the reviews, since we weren't doing them in the same place. But yeah, that's not really the issue.
Really, I think the main point to make is yours (some members are seed-sellers). It would probably build tension in the forum.
However, a vote for a place isn't a vote against another place, per se. I probably prefer trading seeds as much as the other options I checked. I don't think polls of favorites would be an issue. Polls about vendors you hate, on the other hand …

Hey Patti, thanks for being so kind and helpful. I think it might be best to close or delete this thread. I am kinda wary that this thread might begin to step on toes or tails and that it might steer towards an unpleasant path.MissS wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 5:22 pmI hope that you find your marbles soon, what color are they perhaps we can help.TheDante wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 4:28 am
Wow! Did not expect such a resounding response from this vendor POLL… should I create 2 Polls with all the Vendors mentioned and missed? - Thanks Sue, got me wondering… should I or should I not.![]()
Maybe I should create a POLL asking if I should create a new poll with 2 polls too!
![]()
Clearly I have lost my marbles now.. lolololol
All kidding aside, why not start a thread for folks to list their favorite vendors in. They can describe their experience and results. Perhaps another thread for vendors that they don't like so much. If all works well, you can ask one of us moderators to make it a sticky for you.![]()
I have also been made aware and come to realise that there are peeps out there that reads way too much into certain messages. Life isn´t very simple around the human race after all. A lesson I always never seem to learn and gets bitten in the backside all the time. Thanks again Patti

Re: POLL: North American Seed Vendors
Before this thread gets locked or deleted, I would like to add that I voted for the 2 vendors that I knew and had ordered from in the past. I enjoyed this poll as I had never even heard of the other vendors. No I am not an idiot but I come from a long line of farmers that grew the same things year after year and saved seeds for the next years planting. Good Lord and Butter! 'Ordering' seeds could get you voted off the land. So no toe stepping was involved in my vote!

Re: POLL: North American Seed Vendors
A list of vendors who the members here have had good experience with could be beneficial. I found some of my favorite seed sellers from others recommendations.
Just sharing my thoughts.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I would never have found some of my favored vendors if I had not found them mentioned on a list elsewhere.AZGardener wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 2:13 pm A list of vendors who the members here have had good experience with could be beneficial. Re: POLL: North American Seed Vendors
I believe that having a list of reliable vendors is very beneficial to this site. TV, our mother site, addressed this very well in having a separate thread for each reliable vendor. In these threads people could mention what is was that they liked about the vendor and anything about them that they wanted to share.
If people wish to start a thread about a vendor with their good points mentioned and then we get enough of them going, and a good response from our members, we can make these stickies.
This way we will have a list of tried and true seed vendors that is easy to see and also has peoples reviews.
Any other suggestions we can work with too. Let's hear your suggestions.

I think it would be awesome to know if our members are vendors and what their sites are for one! Growing up it was always, take care of your own first and then help as many others as possible. SO along those same lines, I would rather order from members.

I would really hate to see a thread devoted to nothing but negative comments about any known establishments.
It turned into nothing but a turn off for me in the old country and can lead to troubles we dont need.
An eBay ripoff warning is a different deal.

For tomatoes, The Secret Seed Cartel (now in France) should be on the list.
For many things Asian, Kitazawa is my go-to.
And for the truly adventurous, Wild Garden Seed is it.

Croatianseeds
Delectation of Tomatoes
Fedco
Heritage Seed Market
J&L Gardens
Johnnny's Selected Seeds
Knapp Seed
Ohio Heirloom Seed
Pinetree
Renaissance Farms
Sample Seed Shop
Sandhill Preservation Center
Secret Seed Cartel
Tatianna's (but is not online now) Do we know if she will re-open?
TomatoFest
Tomato Growers Supply

For tomato plants:
Selectedplants - https://www.selectedplants.com/
Are there any others that we are missing? Do we want stickies with their web address and members notes or is just mentioning them here enough?

Re: POLL: North American Seed Vendors
Sand Hill Preservation offers a vast collection of tomatoes, peppers, legumes, sweet potato slips and cute little chicks and ducklings. Glad to see they're vouched for here.
Paulf wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 12:21 pm The poll list is pretty small and does not have my favorites. Excellent seeds, prices and customer service: Remy (Sample Seed), Tatianna, Glenn (Sand Hill), TGS; J&L is on the poll and has never been a problem for me. Some listed on the poll have sent me wrong seed and have other problems. Absolutely no problems with my favorites...maybe that is why after more than twenty years of purchasing, the cream has risen to the top of my list.
