How's your weather?

Highs in the low 50's this week, with frost or freeze warnings for the next two nights. Probably won't freeze at my house, but the growing season is over for all but hardy cool season crops.

Fall is in the air here today. Although the daytime highs are continuing near 70 F, last night was pretty close to frosty here at my site under a clear sky. Until yesterday, the entire insect kingdom was continuing its season of debauch from dusk to dawn. Today it was nearly noon before I saw a bumblebee. They're humming out there now, but it's a 'summer's over' kind of buzz.

High today of 86, low tonight of 27... rain and snow forecast starting around midnight with a high tomorrow of 31 and a low Tuesday night of 20... good by garden.

Sorry for the short gardening season, wykvlvr - we're in the same boat with the rain, snow, and low temps, but we're warmer by a few degrees. I spent the past 3 days harvesting green tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, beans, peppers, etc. Now we just wait for the tomatoes to ripen and can or freeze what we can.

We are under a cloud of smoke right now from fires up North, so the front coming down is welcome to clear out the air. But the colder temps are not welcome. I picked out the last of the corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, jalapeños, chiles, mild peppers and green beans this morning and getting ready to go outside to cover the habaneros, tomatoes and water hyacinths. Hopefully what is left in the garden can survive the low temps on Wednesday morning, as the weather warms back up to 80 degrees on Sunday. Good weather to can some salsa...and hot pepper relish.

Most of my grow bags went into the garage so that is potatoes, summer squash and cucumbers. All 30 of my micro pots, grow bags, and window boxes are in the house. We pIcked the "big" tomatoes and snap beans yesterday. Left the huge bag with Tromboncino plants out but sorta curled the vines into the bag area and covered them hoping it is enough but doubt it will be. The shell beans got covered also again hoping it works those are just a week or so short of being ready sigh. AND I am aching from all the lifting and hauling... so is DH. I do know that the temp had dropped almost 20 degrees since I got home at 2:30 and now AND yep that famous Wyoming wind has been blowing.

wet. we have had rain all day. I would guess at least 4 or 5 inches. it has rained and rained and rained.

Today was probably the most pleasant day we've had since June! Blue sky, high 85, low 65, humidity only 41% and a nice steady breeze out of the north. We needed this! To quote a song, "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!"

It's a nice day, if cool for my taste. It was pretty windy last night. The forecast says there's some rain coming up eventually in some days.

Nice weather, and nice song, [mention]GoDawgs[/mention]! We had similar weather Saturday and Sunday, but the humidity is back up, big time. Thursday is the day for rain here - figures, since I have to go back to the dentist then! lol Still, nothing like it was, so I won't complain.

Not so nice here...presently 33 degrees and light snow still falling. I don't have a lot of hope for anything that I couldn't cover, as there is a few inches of snow on everything. I had a small patch of corn that was just starting to tassel that is laying down covered with snow and slush. Tomorrow when it warms up, I'll try to stand it back up. Temperatures are supposed to climb back up to 90 degrees by Sunday, so hopefully when I take off the blankets and tarps tomorrow, there will be still something to salvage. Sure going to miss the cucumbers...

I'd like to say fall is in the air today but it's ashes, lots of ashes from the CA wildfires. Hazy skies and I'm miles away from the nearest fires. Had to close my windows just now as I'm seeing ashes on my kitchen table. I've never seen it this bad. Praying for the safety of all folks and critters near the fires...

From one hundred plus weather last week or so and eighty in the morning to pouring down rain and fifties in the morning.

And in early September to boot.
Simply amazing.
Flabbergasted at the very least.

Yes, it is unusual all over the country. The snow we got yesterday was the earliest September snowfall in 122 years, with the lowest low and high temperatures for the date. Hard to believe it was 103 degrees on Sunday. Water content was at least 2 inches between the rain and snow, which exceeded our total precipitation for the last 5 months.

Dried up white snails on wall all summer long baking in the heat.
Told coworker they were still alive.
After yesterday's rain I plucked some off the wall and put them in some water on the sidewalk.
About fifteen minutes later they were crawling around.
Snails are amazing animals.

We broke a heat record for the date yesterday as well. Hit 25.4 C, and the humidex was over 30C.
Around here that is the kind of weather you only get in July.
This year we had July weather off and on starting in last week of May, most of June, a good bit of August and now September. Every month except July, which was cold and wet, go figure. It was definitely one of our hotter summers, in spite of the July.
