Re: Random and miscellaneous garden photos
@SpookyShoe Plumeria is one of my favorites. They are so pretty and many are wonderfully fragrant. I need to look into getting one or two. Does Maas have plumeria? Or is there another vendor that might be good?
That looks like a brown anole, the non-native anole indigenous to Cuba and the Bahamas. I thought maybe our two big freezes in 2021 and 2022 might have wiped them out, but I saw one the other day in my garden. The freezes definitely knock down their numbers, but it looks like they are making a come back. Apparently, the native green anoles handle the extra cold weather we occasionally get better than the tropical brown anoles.

Re: Random and miscellaneous garden photos
Maas has them but they are very expensive. I invariably will break a tip off of one of my existing plants by accident and I propagate mine by rooting the tip.
As you probably know, Houston is the home of the Plumeria Society of America. Every year they have plumeria sales at Clear Lake Park. I don't know if they have had their event yet for 2023.
You can probably find cuttings for sale on the internet.

White antho variety isn't going to be best tasting, but I am appreciating the Great White Blue for other than its flavor. This is probably 75-80 days from transplant, despite the rough humid wet season. The biggest one atm is 1.57lbs, my other beefsteaks variety only have small fruits at the moment.

I saw this when picking some spotted lanternflies off of my basil (fortunately, not as many this year). Hopefully the praying mantis likes those!

A monarch caterpillar will make a chrysalis seemingly anywhere. Today I saw one on the lip of a planter and two on the siding of the second story of the house.

Re: Random and miscellaneous garden photos
I had three monarch births early this morning and I missed all of them. The three chrysalises in my above post (#104520) were empty. One guy was still clinging to its empty chrysalis on the planter and one guy who was on the siding of the house apparently toppled onto some garden statuary on the ground and was still there drying its wings.
I couldn't find where the third one was.

So great to see them after hatching @SpookyShoe . Even if you missed the hatch event!

Corn smut, didn't get it for a few years, looking forward to eating it. Probably will be a bit bitter, but I can manage,
