Re: 2021 wish lists
EEEP I forgot to watch the date as I waited for input from the group. Sadly only two got back to me in time so my list covers just 3 of us.I think I remember a Wyoming gardening group from last year? If you have time, ask them if they're looking for anything.]
Tristan is looking for rainbow carrot blends, flowers(the request for zinnia seeds came from her) the early melons, and she wants to try some dry beans this year but has at max a 90 day growing season.
Marge has had to move to an apartment and has limited space for container gardening so she is mostly after flowers(she loves big marigolds) and wants to try a dwarf tomato plant in a bucket and a friend has promised her space for the early watermelon.
Basically we will try anything short season that is tolerant of cool nights as we search for easy to grow fruits and veggies we like. We are at least a mile high in altitude, many are over 6,000 ft in altitude so yep it can be fun and challenging some years.

Re: 2021 wish lists
Hopefully you'll like the Siberskaya Roza watermelon as much as we do. I didn't note on the label, but the vines are relatively compact, about 5 feet or so, so it doesn't take up a lot of space for a watermelon.wykvlvr wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 11:21 amEEEP I forgot to watch the date as I waited for input from the group. Re: 2021 wish lists
Indian Woman Yellow (said to originate in Montana) is the earliest dry bean variety that I've trialed, 65 days from planting to dry in a good season. I don't know if I still have any, or whether some are coming in to the swap. I have an experimental half runner bean that matured in 63 days. But, with back-to-back crop failures the past two years, these beans are now 7 years old, and may no longer germinate.wykvlvr wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 11:21 amEEEP I forgot to watch the date as I waited for input from the group. My recommendation for Tristan is to sow a few beans indoors, about three weeks before direct seeding. Plants should be outside during warm days, inside during cold nights. Transplant at the same time as direct seeding. Then find out if all of the effort is worth it.

Re: 2021 wish lists
Hoping I don't jump the gun, but we're in the process of closing on 5 acres of mostly hayfield. Already warned my husband if I get it in my head to plant 4 acres of tomatoes, I'm gonna do it & there's nothing he can do to stop me. But in actuality I'm starting small since I'm beginning with a blank slate, the acres of tomatoes will come later.
tomatoes:
Girl Girl's Weird Thing
Royal Hillbilly
dwarf varieties
Any super prolific container variety
non tomatoes:
Cosmos (not yellow or orange, I have plenty)
Zinnia (all colors)
Marigold: tangerine, lemon or red gem
Mint (all varieties)
Basil (all varieties)
Any flowers
peppers:
Italico
Chervena Chushka
Marconi
gypsy
chocolate cake

Re: 2021 wish lists
Considering that I didn't want much, reading through the Master List, I found a few that I'd like to try:
Ambrosia Gold
Japanese Pink Cherry
Matts Hornet
Pink Princess
Sweet Orange II
Danko
Elgin Pink
Plus, I'd like to try "Scotia" if you happen to have some.
Thanks Gary for holding this amazing swap.

I see these every time I go through my flowers but never grew them.
From you wish list would that be common 2-3 foot cosmos or dwarf sensation. or both (have to check my stash).
And for the bachelor buttons blue or mixed colors.
- Lisa
Also check Spoiler Alert on the Zinnias.

Re: 2021 wish lists
Dwarf Tomato Wishes:
Newer variety Dwarf Red/Pink slicers on the taller side.
Next summer will be different as my tomato garden will be limited to 5 large containers and a small spot for full sized cherries(Sungold, Esternia and a red or two). It will be fun to grow dwarf tomatoes again after so many years. I had a love hate relationship with them during the early years.
A late season windstorm took down parts of the wood fence on three sides. I'm not the only one as I am on the list for replacement hopefully by mid-summer 2022. I usually attach cages all along the fence to brace against the wind. This year I'm going to try and grow a crop of tall peas in their place before the installers and materials arrive.
I missed the hybrid thread option. Checking back to see if I can find may need another final call.
- Lisa
Edit : Found the hybrid thread, initially read and overlooked as I had my F1 mainstay cherrries. Interested in Chef's Choice Bi-Color 1 seed if available please. I promise I will not drop it in the heating vent

Re: 2021 wish lists
Lisa, I'm looking for a riot of color and variation. Any color and/or variety is good. The height requirement is not carved in stone. I'm thinking 2' or more is optimum but if I get shorter ones I'll plant them down in the front.greenthumbomaha wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 9:37 pm Nan6b

Ambrosia Gold
Santiam Sunrise
Dark Orange Muscat
Garnet cherry
Cuorno des Andes/Andes Horn
Pomodoro Cuore Antico di Acqui Terme

Aleppo
Any pimento pepper, italian sweet pepper, or very mild chile pepper
Other wishes:
Aswad eggplant
Wyatt bush bean
Provider bush bean
