Earthquake Down Under
If you hear any reports of an earthquake in Australia, yes it happened about 60 miles north of us and we felt the Shake good and proper. Some minor building damage in Melbourne but none here.

I didn’t realize Australia had any significant seismic activity.

Re: Earthquake Down Under
We get them more frequently than what a lot of people realise, mostly not strong enough to be felt, but we do have some good ones at times. About 10 years ago a 5.6 (I think) located about 5 miles from here and going back to early 1980's Newcastle was flattened by one around 8 from memory. Seems to be one around every 10 years over 5, with most occurring in sparsely populated areas.

Adding here my relief that you folks are OK. Those tectonic plates do stir things up now and then. New Zealand has had their fill in past days.

There's an article on the google feed for the phone that details this better, will see if I can find it on the computer and copy the link over. We get more 5's than I thought, it's just that most occur where there are few people

Much of Australia is a vast desert only a few very tough folks can and do live in.
Many from there have came to West Texas and said it reminded them of home.
Good friendly folks.
