Five Golden Rings from Ohio
Newbie from NW Ohio....on a few acres so plenty of livestock compost for those TOMATOES I plan to grow again this year. I obtained a few dozen of the Tomato Project Dwarfs and other Dwarfs and Micro Dwarf seeds last summer and will try not to start any indoors until March....I have a 50x50 foot old paddock with good sun exposure at my second farm I hope to make a second garden plot at. Last summer was a right of GOLD RINGS of tomato slices as I grew many yellow and orange varieties, including others, "Huge Lemon Oxheart, Paul Robeson, Anna Russian, Black Krim, Black Tula, Manyel, Juane Flamme, Lollipop, Old German (salad size), Orange Kentucky Beefsteak, Nebraska Wedding, to name just a few off the top of my head.
This time of year....well the hens got into the garden and trashed out the strawberries....so sourcing those
Didn't dig the garlic AND they went to seed, a purple hardneck originally from Johnny's years and years ago donated from my neighbor, I had a 2x8 foot row....so I should now have garlic forever....
Repotting some houseplants, everything in the green house is officially done...we had temps down to 13 last week.
I have about 6 shoeboxes of seeds.....so my goal this year is to 'buy no more'.... well maybe some new pickling cukes...so you see how that is going...
My tomato collection is just stored in zippy's in a shoebox, right now in an outbuilding....hoping it's ok.....about 400 plus varieties....

Welcome! I think that you will be right at home here.
Yes a newbie for sure. You only have about 400 varieties, we can help you fix that. Just one shoe box??? Nope not enough tomato seeds yet.
Come on in, we will be glad to help you out.

Not to be a jinx, but that may have mice written all over it. I've heard some stories...

Re: Five Golden Rings from Ohio
So was just out to the 'studio building' no signs yet of mice, maybe the kitties are doing their job and there is lots of food in the building next to this one. But I think they might actually eat the lye soap first....yep, mice eat soap, too! Yes, those cigar type boxes that are so cute from dollar store. They can chew through the plastic ones, too. I feed them plenty of cracked corn, provide water, and they blow up....no seed eatin….. and let's just say the man is eyeing the stack of seed boxes besides my chair and saying that stuff needs to go outside to storage....Maybe I should dump them all into my red picnic cooler and put that out there.....guess I can look at glass half gallon jars, but I only have 6 of those, put a round of paper inside to block light.....I have more seed than just tomatoes, tomatoes are in 3 boxes at the moment...
