coco coir

was planning on making my own starter mix using coco coir, but looking at reviews of so many different makers of the coir, seems there are many problems people are having with it, mold, and other things, has anyone made their own mix and if so, what product did you use? was planning on using, coir, vermiculite,and worm castings, for a mix. thanks---tom

The canna coir in the 40L bricks is really good and the best by far for the price.

I've used some the coir in the gorilla boost bags, and it is decent.

I use these by themselves, others I have to wash, wash, wash and sometimes add perlite.

The Roots Organic blocks are really good too. I use to love their chips but not to be found anymore.

I've made my own with just coir, and not had any problems. I also added worm castings and a little vermiculite, but more perlite, for drainage, and a little granular DE. Usually, though, I use it with peat, 50/50, along with the other additives. But I never compared the different mixes side by side.
