Will ANYTHING get rid of white flies?
Sigh.... This year its white flies that have made a whole number in my tomatoes.
They cant care less about soap. Guess at least I solved the aphids issue.
I moved onto bioadvanced spray (cyfluthrin) wich is suposed to kill the bastards but you cant use it more than 6 times per season so you miss a spot and thats it....
They are now pretty out of control. I have like until early november left of season so need something that i can spray regularly to keep them kind of under control.
And more importantly i need something for next season.
Help please

They sure are hard to beat. I have never found anything 100% effective against them. Diatomaceous Earth or Surround are my best weapons of attack. I have gotten them pretty much off of my tomatoes but I was out in the flower garden today and see my baskets are swarming with them. Both of these products leave a white residue. I am not so sure that I will be using that on my flowers. I think that I am going to try Neem on them and see if I can't knock them down a bit. If it does not then out comes my dog flea and tick shampoo.

I had the first invasion of them ever here at my house this year.
I diligently by hand killed every nest i could find.
Even let the plants get water starved to make them move on.
Then as the heat set in they moved on for whatever reason.
They like fast growing succulent new growth the most.

You spray the diatom earth on the plant??? Can you elaborate?
Im thinking of getting neem but i suspect it will be like with soap. they will just flutter around and then come back and pop out babies under the leaves.

Re: Will ANYTHING get rid of white flies?
You can get this at most garden centers and Walmart too. You mix it with water about 1/2c - 1c per gallon and spray it on trying to cover both sides of the leaves. I personally add a drop or two of Dawn dish soap to help it get better coverage. The idea is to make a white powder on the plant which will decimate the insects. This will destroy most insects that feed on your plants including aphids, hornworms and Japanese beetles the downside is that it will also harm the bees.
You can also use a garden duster to dust your plants when they are damp.

I use yellow sticky traps but they seem more effective against adult aphids than white flies.
My beans are under constant attack so I’ve been hitting the undersides of the leaves with the hose.
Such a nuisance.

I felt the same way about leafminers, Azamax is what finally worked for me. It’s expensive but one jug lasts forever. Definitely worth a try.

Neem oil is not doing much. Its probably more of a preventative.
