Disease, deficiencies, what have I got here?

This is new to me in that usually my issues start at the tip of the leaf and work towards the stem. This seems to be opposite. Waist high plants, small fruit on them, they’ve been pretty dry, not a lot of water to the roots or leaves. Any ideas?

Are the leaves getting enough light or is the plant aborting the leaves due to lack of photosynthesis? Are your plants wilting at all? Is this starting at the bottom and working up? How many plants have this?

To start, I would remove and dispose of the yellowing leaves. I would check the underside for insects. I would also spray the plants with a fungicide like copper of daconil.

Your answers will help us to tell you more.

Not a ton of direct sunlight, patch is in a half shady spot. No wilting. Yes starting at the bottom. Virtually all 25 plants have it at varying levels.

I’m super down to rip off all yellow, but if it’s lack of sunlight won’t that exacerbate things? Will check undersides soon.

If shade/drought is the issue it would explain why the yellow is further in on the leaf and not starting with tips.
Take off all the yellow leaves, then give them a good watering maybe even a feed as well.

Gave them a long water yesterday, will update later today. This plot is a good winter plot, but the nearby trees apparently shade it pretty good in summer.

Eta- Pruned all the yellowed leaves, gonna microscope the bottom of a few. Gave all plants except two (my control) a feed with some liquid ferts that have worked for me in the past. Weather dependent I’m gonna give them a foliar feed this evening or tomorrow morning.

This is a wild cross grow out, so it actually isn’t the worst thing that they’re under some stress. Will help me in my selecting.

Tomato Russet Mites. Super common. Starts yellowing from the stem outward. Mimics nutrition deficiency. Can't see them with the naked eye, but if you can get 14X or higher magnification, you'll be able to see them. They look conical with 4 legs. Abamectin takes care of them. Mites like it dry.

@Ginger2778 Thanks for chiming in. I didn’t see any bugs under the microscope, I have a text in with my brother to see what kind of magnification we were using. You seem pretty sure though, so maybe I’ll give them a dose of Azamax tomorrow if it’s dry.

Is this Habro Heart? I have it in my garden and it’s doing well. Just in case yours don’t make it 🥰

@Homegrwoninillinois This is a KBX mother, 1/4 habro. Couple posts about it in the crosses subforum.

I foliar fed last night. Then this afternoon hit them top and bottom with my Azamax mix. Thinking this is all the attention I will give this plot. Will see how it goes, going to select the one or two that handle this hardship with grace and give me the largest fruits.

Time to give attention to my 32 cherries and my ever growing main plot of slicers.
