Re: How's your weather?
Well our forecast low for halloween night just dropped from zero to minus 4 C. 24.8 F.
Snow is expected, especially over higher terrain so... if there's snow, I'll be having some, and it may not go away in a hurry.
I just pulled and cleaned a load of little carrots, but I guess I should get the last of them tomorrow before it bottoms out!

Re: How's your weather?
I'm going from 80 to the 20s in 4 days, if the weathermen are correct. Tonight it looks like southwestern Connecticut will get a frost/freeze. I'm about 70 miles from there. Each day it inches closer, and I must remind myself to harvest the last of the green onion tops.Mark_Thompson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 11:11 amGoing from the 80s to 30s in three days absolutely blows my mindGoDawgs wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 7:32 am Today will be the fourth straight day of 80's and it will also be the last one for the year. We're about to fall off the temp cliff. Tomorrow's high will be 65 and Wednesday's will be 56. First frost is coming. Wednesday thru Friday lows look like 35,31,34 respectively. At least they changed that Thursday 28 to 31 since yesterday!

Re: How's your weather?
we have 6 to 7 inches of snow on the ground. that is different from the one to two inches predicted during the day.
the kaboom is supposed to happen over night with another three to five inches more. looks like i will have to fire up
the tractor tomorrow and blow some snow. a little early for that.

It got up to 70° today, but it dropped to 54° already, and has rained .12" already. 54° is supposed to be the high tomorrow, and windy. Wednesday is going to be colder, and Wednesday night might freeze - probably not, but I can't take chances, which is why I drained my pipes outside. It's heating up again by the weekend, though only a little over average.

Re: How's your weather?
Ended up having to sit in traffic forever yesterday going home.
Both sides of the highway shut down due to a wreck.
Had to detour miles out of the way and low and behold an 18 wheeler was trying to turn around and got stuck in the mud blocking the detour.
I got home over an hour late again.

Re: How's your weather?
no kaboom.
just a dusting of snow over night. still supposed to get up to two inches today.
i will see how blowing snow goes just to get the tractor fired up and tidy up a bit.
there were a few mishaps on the road yesterday with school buses getting stuck or
nearly avoiding accidents. people even here need to adjust to driving in winter conditions.

Re: How's your weather?
Eh... I misread the forecast and we ended up with nearly 10 cm of snow last night. Another 2-4 cm possible this morning. The snow is wet and heavy and everything with leaves on it is bowed down. It is certainly early for us to see any more than a dusting or a few flakes drifting down mixed with rain. Some dripping and dropping going on as we nudge above freezing, but tbh it would be better for me if the snow stays where it is for the -4C drop still on the menu tonight. That way things will still be unfrozen in the ground.

The kids will be Trick or Treating out in the snow here this year. It's coming down and sticking nicely on the ground. Grrr, it's rather early for this.

Overcast
47°F
8°C
Humidity 74%
Wind Speed N 13 mph
Barometer 30.30 in (1026.1 mb)
Dewpoint 39°F (4°C)
Visibility 10.00 mi
Wind Chill 41°F (5°C)
Last update 31 Oct 7:53 am CDT
Should top out at 59° today. 38° is the forecasted bottom tomorrow morning, nothing too obnoxious. Back to mostly 70s for highs and 50s for lows for the remainder of week and into the next, sort of typical early November weather.
These somewhat early cold blasts serve to drop the water temperature offshore enough to make the return flow off the gulf less tropical. So if the summer flow means low 90s as highs the water had already cooled enough to bring that number to the mid 80s, this event will drop the number to high 70s.

Supposed to hit a low of 36 degrees tonight. I hope it doesn't freeze since we're supposed to have 2 weeks of temps in the 75-85 degree range after that and I still have green tomatoes out there.

I find it a little bit bizarre that we're all having first snow or a major drop in temperature at the same time, all over North America.

1st frost of the season last night.
I had a plant outside I meant to bring in.
Maybe that did in the aphids.
They were blowing smoke out their mouths.
30.1 °F Now
Feels Like 25.6 °F

Re: How's your weather?
It got down to 31° out back here, last night, yet the pepper plants don't look that bad. But I'm not trying to save anything, since I really don't need anymore peppers! It's only supposed to get to 50° today, and close to 60° tomorrow, and even higher than average (maybe 67°) Saturday. I still have cold weather crops, but I'll probably pull those peppers and other crops on this nice weekend.

Re: How's your weather?
It was about 69° today, about 10° above average, but tomorrow is forecast to be a little below - about 55° - then right back to around 70° on Thursday, then right back down! It's been doing this roller coaster all week, but finally it's going down for good, over the weekend. Maybe...
