New from Northern Nevada
Hi Everyone!
I’m living in Northern Nevada and love growing tomatoes, peppers, herbs and flowers. Last night we got about 5 inches of snow. Im looking forward to spring and summer so that I can do some gardening. I’m glad that I found this group.

I'm glad that you found us too @TahoeQueen. It's time to pour over those seed catalogs and browse our pages so you can get your grow list ready for planting.

Re: New from Northern Nevada
@TahoeQueen Welcome!
In theory, northern Nevada isn't that far from where I live (I'm guessing about 230 miles as the crow flies), but I've never actually gone through the Owyhee Desert to get there and find out.
I wonder if there's a welcome to Nevada sign in the Owyhee Desert when you hike across the border (the Owyhee Desert is in Nevada, too).
You can go to Nevada through Twin Falls, but that adds maybe a hundred miles to your trip (albeit, there are roads). I've never gone that way, either. I have gone to Reno and Lake Tahoe (as well as less northern parts of Nevada) through Utah, though.
Edit: I guess Nevada's closer than I thought. Even not going as the crow flies, you can get to the border in about 183 miles or so (although it may or may not be a safe route).

Thanks for the welcome! That’s pretty close! I’ve never visited the Owyhee desert. Visited Idaho through Twin Falls though!

Welcome, wishing you a successful 2024 season...if the snow will melt.

Welcome to the forum TahoeQueen! I'm in 3 foot of snow here in New Hampshire and dreaming on the Spring too. Just looking at seed catalogs wistfully today but will start some onion seeds in 10 days I think
You will like it here I think, I sure do.
