Re: Winter Hawaii 2023-24
So much rain, everything is wet and soggy. I did get a few more lime trees and cover crop planted though, so that timing worked out. Got another good reminder that mainland corn doesn’t work here, 24” tall and they’re all mature. Someday I’ll learn… Some healthy leaf veggies, my oldest mixing her proprietary cover crop mixture she’s so proud of, and my fairly giant Green Giant.

More of the same, including a Roulette pepper from @Cornelius_Gotchberg that I’m looking forward to watching grow, and a variety of lettuce called Pablo that I think is pretty cool looking. Also microdwarf corn, which I’m betting will be the next big thing in the gardening world

To put things in perspective, I'll be PLANTING Peppers during the next coupla days.
Not going to label them there Tomatoes for us the benighted...?

@Cornelius_Gotchberg More Green Giants.
@bower I’m assuming it’s the short day length, but most open pollinated corn and even a lot of
sweet hybrids end up with tassels and ears when the plants are tiny. The one in the picture above is probably the most extreme example of this. The corn never ends up being any good, so I’m very certain it is not the next big thing

Some of them Wildling Panamorous tomatoes and a quick taro harvest. Might be almost time to get some tomatoes starting for “summer.”

First fruit set on the Roulette pepper, my newest garage art, couple little corns, their cobs are a bright red and they stain absolutely everything. Also cut like twenty pounds of lettuce today, luckily that’s easy enough to offload to the neighbors. Think this will be my last winter post, time for a more tomato-centric grow log!
