Ramapo
Got a Ramapo 2 gal plant today to try.
Should be big enough for me to take cuttings later on in the season.
I was really after early boy but they didn't have any for sale at shoprite.

Re: Ramapo
I grew it in my early days of tomato growing maybe 1978 or 79. Can't remember if I ever grew it again. It's been a while

Re: Ramapo
I’m trying Ramapo this year as well! Last year Moreton was my favorite tomato, so I got a few of the Jersey types to see if any do better with our fusarium situation (Moreton doesn’t have any resistance and was one of the first to succumb to the wilt).

Re: Ramapo
The 1st red one was funny, about 2oz and no seeds at all.
Had blossoms on it when I bought it.
No bees? I thought I saw carpenter bees go at it.

Re: Ramapo
Ramapo has been doing really well for us so far, although no ripe fruit yet so can’t comment on taste. Large plant, very healthy, unaffected by fusarium so far (the Moreton next to it is almost dead and Rutgers in the same bed is pretty affected also). Lots of fruit, and it has been setting more in spite of the crazy heat wave we’ve had.

Re: Ramapo
Ramapo was one of the first duds of 2024.
Ditto for Red Deuce.
Both plants are dead now even after having them indoors under lights.
Both store bought plants at the same food store. There must have been something in the potting soil when bought.

Re: Ramapo
Bought Ramapo seeds at a Rutgers U Tomato tasting a couple of years ago. It did well the first time but not well the next year. Haven’t grown it since but should try again. One of the few hybrids I have.

Re: Ramapo
Not sure I will grow again next year since I have such limited space, but might return to it at some point as a safety tomato.

Re: Ramapo
Autopsy on a dying plant revealed a completely hollow stem.
I cut it down to 1 inch and filled the hole with wax.
It has a small side shoot.
Container plant outdoors,it may be too hot for it.
