Your top 10 best tasting tomatoes

We didn’t have good luck with Jaune Flammee last year - the few fruit that got ripe were unpleasantly acidic, the vast majority of fruit were affected by BER (only plant out of 12 with that issue) and it started showing signs of fusarium issues a full month ahead of all the other varieties. I actually got so annoyed with it that I yanked it in July! It’s always amazing how different the results can be for the same variety of tomato.
Last year our flavor stand out was the lowly Moreton. For our palate it was the perfect balance of sweet with a smidge of acid for added depth of flavor. We actually preferred it to SOTW, Brandy Boy, Sun Gold etc. Blasphemy I know! Really hopeful that it will taste as good for us this year.

Not in any particular order. Just keep on coming back to these varieties after trying many other.

And crosspolination of Carbon with yellow. And that cross has yellow skin color but green locular caveties. It looks weird but taste great, so I keep on growing it.

@Ella NJ I need to try JD’s Special C-Tex since it was reportedly developed about 100 miles from my home. Plus, I have the seeds from a MMMM swap I do believe. And, I love Carbon, Cowlick Brandywine, Black Cherry, Cherokee Purple (cannot grow it, but still love it). Everything on your list that I have tried have been delicious tomatoes so if you happen to really like a particular tomato, I probably will also.

Dester and Stump of the World are in my top 10. I see that many share that view so I will definitely be trying the others you listed. At this rate I am going to have 50 different pink beefsteak tomatoes next growing season!

I am surprised I didn't see any pink oxhearts listed (or I missed them). Many of my favorites are pink oxhearts. Can't really go wrong with any of them.

Any recommends?

Off the top of my head - Anna Russian, Bread & Salt, Cuore di Bue, Joe's Pink Oxheart, Ludmilla's Pink Oxheart, Wes, Yoder's German Pink.

I think you will. And it is earlier than most. At 75 days after transplanting, I recall.

Not sure I have enough tomato growing seasons under my belt to have a definitive top 10 yet, but here are some I've liked the most and will grow every year forever.

1. Sungold. Like most people.
2. Black Cherry. Like most people.
3. Sakura (very productive red cherry from Johnny's that tastes the most like a big beefsteak of any cherry)
4. Cherry Bomb
5. German Bi-Color (unless I taste a better red yellow bicolor some day)
6. Tie Dye Heart (also the most beautiful tomato I've grown)
7. Bizkaya Roza
8. Pruden's Purple
9. Queen Aliquippa
10. Paul Robeson

I've got a lot of new ones growing this year, many mentioned in this thread like Daniel Burson, Stump of the World, Cow's Tit, etc so my list may be revised soon.

I have to give Marianna's Peace another try. I tried it once in Florida but wasn't productive and has slightly woody core. I suspect it doesn't like that climate, same as Brandywine.

There is an imposter of MP going around. It has much rougher shoulders than the real deal.

That may have been the one I tried a couple of years ago, wasn't impressed with it.

In the past few years, I've had nematode damage in some beds, so my list is the few I've grown that have still produced and tasted good in my hot hot dry summer climate despite that, and also keep for a while once they ripen.
I'd be happy growing these five every year (but I still have 50-60 varieties in the garden):

Benevento F1
Polaris
Chocolate Sprinkles F1
Purple Boy F1
Rosella cherry

plus
Black Cherry has also done well the past couple years, but it was inconsistent in my previous climate
Green Tiger was the best-tasting last year, but it pooped out early

In past years, in a less-extreme climate, I've liked these, some of which I'm starting to try here

Elgin Pink
Sun Sugar F1

Are you absolutely certain your Prudence (Prudens) Purple is red? Did you check the skin for yellow color?

The reason that I ask is because it has a very deep red interior, making it a very dark pink tomato, possibly the darkest pink tomato that I've trialed. It is also satiny, not glossy like the reds. Colorwise, I consider it the most beautiful looking tomato of all. Also, many fruit are boat-shaped, for another key indicator as to it being the correct variety.

Many moons ago, I tried the Harris big three, Moreton, Jet Star and Supersonic. Moreton and Jet Star were nothing special, to me.

To this day, if someone was looking for a good tasting tomato, that could be used for salads to sandwiches, and is not looking for the most extraordinary of heirloom flavor, Supersonic is still the one tomato that I recommend. In my garden, it has had the production where one gives up on counting.

Try Dwarf Boronia as a substitute for Cherokee Purple. It has that CP taste. At least for me it does. I intend to grow Boronia every year now since I too have had no luck with Cherokee Purple.

My original seed source for JD's Special C-Tex was a relative of JD.

They sent me a bulk pack of 1,000+ seeds. Soon, I'll have to check and see if I have any of those seeds left, and the original packet that gave a brief outline of the history behind the variety.

From an historical perspective, I recommend growing the Harris big three, all in one year. There are people that appreciate Jet Star, and like the above post, those that really like Moreton.

I don't ever recall any (deep) woody core with Marianna's Peace, other than being like most beefsteaks and maybe having up to about 1/2 inch of core at the stem. The tomatoes were mostly flesh with few locules of gel.
