Well, @worth1's celebratory sandwich is a hard act to follow, but I'm going to post my very modest and un-creative one anyway. Bulgarian Tri-Fanova tomato with bacon on plain baguette, Hellman's mayonnaise. No lettuce because I still don't have any, and to be honest, I'm not all that crazy about lettuce. Maybe there's a National BnoLT Day for me somewhere on the calendar.

Sometimes when I don't like something, I find that I still like things that taste almost exactly like it to my tongue but are different species. For instance, I like allspice quite a bit, but I don't like cloves. Something that tastes just like lettuce to me is Mary thistle leaves. I don't know if that would work for you, though!

Interesting idea, thank you. I haven't heard of Mary thistle leaves before and will look it up. I don't actually DISlike lettuce. I eat it in salads, and I'm okay with it in souvlaki sandwiches and kabob sandwiches, but I don't love it on most standard sandwiches and burgers. Sometimes I put spinach leaves on sandwiches when I have it fresh from the garden.

Not only is allspice a different plant than cloves, cloves might as well be from a different planet.
Allspice is from the Caribbean and colve from a tiny speck of islands in South East Asia.
I mean you've got to zoom way in the find it and the islands nutmeg comes from.

AT&T has been up to its old tricks again, internet has been out for several days. But I was ready for the 22nd. I wound up having 3 totally awesome BLT's. BrandyFred was a flat softball and the Kentucky Cabin was big enough to make the second and third BLT. BrandyFred taste just like a Brandywine, I tasted the remnants before I bit into the first BLT.

I have no idea how to post pictures on here because I have another BrandyFred that is almost identical to the one I just ate. One thing I do know is that I will grow more than 8 plants next year. I think because of the covid MissS has, we should extend the day until she has recovered.

I passed on National BLT Day, as my one SunGold was not ripe enough. For me, they have to change from yellow/gold to gold/orange in color.

That's just outright sacrilege, I keep at least 20 pound in the freezer all the time. Bacon and eggs is eaten at our house almost every day. Along with chunked up tomatoes in season. No store bought tomatoes for me, anything that will sit on the counter for 6-8 weeks and not rot can't be good for you. Although Brenda has to have them year round to go with her cottage cheese.

My homemade bread (& plate!), lightly toasted. Butter, chilli jam, ripe avocado, black pepper, olive oil, a few leafs, one Bloody Butcher, one Maglia Rosa, crispy bacon.

Wait, your grocery store tomatoes can sit on the counter for 6 to 8 weeks and not rot? Ours tend to rot via anthracnose or mold when refrigerated within about 2.5 weeks.

I finally assembled the necessaries, such as they are, including ripe Skipper tomato and an even tinier ripe Mini Rose. First taste of tomato for the season. Eating these as I post, don't give up @Tormato, a tiny (and even pretentiously tiny) BLT is totally worth it wow.

Happy extended BLT day to everyone (and especially those waiting on tomaters!)

As of today, I'm back up and running. Thanks for asking. Wednesday's and Saturday's are farmer market days so I will see if I can find a suitable candidate for a BLT at one of them. This thread has me drooling. I really would like to have a BLT this week. Correction, I have got to have a BLT this week.

No refrigeration, put them in an old biscuit pan on the dining room table, started that after a bad one got juice on the glass top. according to the boss, that's now mandatory. Get them at Food Giant or the local farmers market if they are open (somewhat better tomatoes although they still are like eating cardboard. I got to writing the date on them. 62 days was the longest, still looked edible but went into the kitchen scrap container. Scared to think about the chemicals used to make them last this long, same way with bread.

@MissS so glad to hear you're over it and BLT looming large on the radar!

The greens on my BLTs are lettuce - Reine des Glaces iceberg from seedlings gifted by a friend. Celery greens sounds like a cool alternative - I really wanted celery this year and found some old seeds in a cup which were mislabeled, as they turned into carrots. So my celery will have to wait.
Maruba Santoh @Tormato sounds good too.
Big fan of chinese cabbage, but our cabbage butterflies don't leave me a leaf in the summertime. I'm thinking to set up some cover for a fall crop though.
