I bet you're making some fantastic sauce with these meaty tomatoes!

Re: My tomatoes 2024
I finally winterized the garden yesterday. I laid strips of black woven fabric on part of the beds and covered it with a thick white non-woven fabric. I sowed incarnate (pink clover) on the beds that I already had free in August, which should overwinter and prevent the growth of annual weeds in the spring. On Wednesday, I go to the hospital to be admitted, saying that they will operate on my right knee on Thursday. I am bringing my computer and will be connected to the internet.

Re: My tomatoes 2024
Sounds like perfect timing for the surgery, Vladimir!
I've been thinking about you on the reports of Storm Boris causing quite a lot of flood damages in Central Europe, and hoping you were not badly affected. It sounds like all is well in your gardens!

Good luck on the surgery, I hope yours turns out as well as mine did! It must be satisfying to know you got your garden work done early. Do your rehab exercises faithfully, and you should be ready to garden full force by spring. Please check in here and let us know how you are doing.
P.S. Salobre and Zamorano did very well for me, huge, good tasting tomatoes, strong, long vines, among the last to succumb to disease this fall, even the ones growing in pots did very well. Thank you for the seeds.

Good luck on your long awaited surgery. I'm so glad that the day is finally near. Please let us know how it all goes. We are all thinking of you.
Zamorano was a huge plant in my garden this year. I will be spreading some seeds around for you.

Re: My tomatoes 2024
I have been home from the hospital since last Monday. So far it looks like the surgery went well, but now I have to do a lot of exercise and rehab. I thought I would have time and mood to do something, but so far it is not possible. I have a new problem: The trauma hospital, where I have been booked for surgery on my left knee for two years, has removed me from the list, because in their opinion, both knees must be done by the same clinic. So I will negotiate a new appointment at the private clinic where I had my right knee operated on. I am hoping to get a better date than April 2025. I would like sometime in late May (after 5/15/2025) or early June so I can plant the tomatoes. If possible, it should be tomatoes that do not require much maintenance (only watering, which would probably not be such a big problem for my son), I would probably try the dwarfs from the Tomatoville project.

Re: My tomatoes 2024
I hope you get a break and quickly cut through the red tape to the appointment you need.
The exercise and rehab is so important!!! You must do this to get full benefits of the surgery, so I wish you all the time and mood you need to stay on top of it. And excellent results with full recovery!! I'm excited for you.

Re: My tomatoes 2024
Glad to hear your surgery went well, hopefully you can arrange to get the other knee done at a date that is convenient for you. I know those exercises are boring and time consuming, but you must work hard at them early in the healing process if you expect to get back full flexion and extension of your knee. Sending best wishes for your quick recovery.
