Seems like every week another plane crashes someplace.
The last one I know of was in Toronto when the plane ended upside down but everyone lived.
The the idiots were taking videos and trying to get their bags off the plane.

I might have commented on this one but it's not posted in the controversial forum.

Airplanes crash especially small planes - Arizona is a popular place for general aviation so we hear about small aircraft incidents pretty often. I think the more surprising one is the amount of domestic commercial incidents lately after the very safe stretch the US was having.

I've helped put on airplane races so I've seen a couple of (fatal) crashes in person. They can get pretty brutal - this is the worst one I saw since you could see the probability building.

That's nuts.
I made me think of the Gee Bee racing plane from the 30s
Jimmy Doolittle flew it.

There have been several military plane crashes in the US as well in the past 3 weeks. One in Alaska, two off San Diego iirc. All 3 pilots ejected safely. There's been some plane crash in the news every couple of days.

@worth1 it's technically a continuation of the same Gee Bee racing. That was all in Cleveland and then an airplane hit a house so it shut down for a few years before moving to Reno, NV for the last 60. Now we got moved to Roswell, New Mexico...

I thought the video of the Alaska F-35 crash was hilarious because you just see the safely ejected pilot watch his 100 million dollar airplane tumble into the ground.

Just had another small plane crash this morning north of Tucson. A flight school Cessna had a wingtip to wingtip midair with a Lancair at a small/no-tower airfield while both were doing go-arounds. Flight school Cessna landed but 2 dead in the Lancair as of initial reports.

My son an airline captain and I were at Reno when the Mustang Galloping Ghost went in and killed a few spectators as well as the pilot. And that airplane had in fact raced at Cleveland in 1947

My dad was there for that incident and knows some people who were injured in it. He's been going every year since the early 80's and was in charge of operations for one of the classes at one point so he's seen all of the accidents. That airframe had a fascinating history because it basically never did anything but race - https://www.aerialvisuals.ca/AirframeDo ... rial=32352

I remember a long haul flight from Houston Texas to Anchorage Alaska.
There weren't many people on the plane and some young gal sat next to me.
Probably 18 or so.
She was wearing shorts and flip flops.
I guess she sat next to me so she wouldn't be lonely and maybe someone to talk to.
She eventually went to sleep stretched across the two seats next to me.
I was in the window seat.
She was meeting her family in Alaska.
She woke up as we were coming in to land.
The wing was flipping up and down flexing as it's supposed to do.
She freaked out and thought the wing was going to fly off.
The she saw we were landing on snow and ice.
More freaking out.
Then she realized she was going to freeze because she was wearing shorts and flip flops.

I read it cost a million dollars to build a spitfire in today's money.
I bet it would be a lot more if they actually built one today.
I remember the mustang crash on the news.
It was horrible.
Estimated cost to build a mustang today is 3 to 5 million dollars.
It was 50 thousand dollars during the war.
