if you are ever in my neck of the woods, you will want to remember this name.
east fork pasty company makes one of the best pastys you will ever want to eat.
i have eaten a few over the years from several different places, and east fork is
at the top of the list. their pasty has a nice light flaky crust, and ground beef,
onions, carrots, potato, and rutabaga in their traditional pasty with a good amount
of pepper seasoning. they make some other kinds too, but i wanted to start off with
the traditional one first. they only sell them on weekends, so plan your trip accordingly.
they almost always sell out. $10.00 is the price which is high for the area, but you won't
regret it. they are in calumet, mi

$10 is a LOT for a U.P. Pasty.

One more thing.

Rigoni's (https://www.rigonibakery.com/) and Joe's Pasty Shop (https://thepastyguy.com/portfolio/joes-pasty-shop/), both in Ironwood, MI, would both like a word...

i have had joes pastys a number of times when the wife and i worked in ironwood a coupla years.
not sure if we had them from rigonis or not. i have had pastys from connies, tonys, mohawk superette, roys
suomi, and kaleva (now closed), krupps, and muldoons in munising. also had a number downstate made
by the finnish heritage center in farmington. have also had home made pastys. prices are usually between six
and seven dollars. they are all good. east fork tastes like a $10.00 pasty. not something i will get that often being
fixed income, and frugal retired guy. but, every now and then, yeah, they are worth it.

Not posting in the controversial section.
There's nothing controversial about it.
Three teenagers tried to kill their mother by chasing her in the house with butcher knives trying to stab her.
They mowed down their grandmother in the process.
The mother ran out into the street and was hit with a brick one of them threw at her
Ages 14 15 16.
Reason is she shut off the wifi.
They were arrested.

I have no link to offer but heard it on the radio.

never should have turned it on.
it can be very hard to parent children these days.
this may be controversial to some people, but i think that
a parent needs to stay at home with the kids. doesn't have to be the mom,
at least until they are old enough, and sensible enough not to burn the house
down if left alone. i know many families that do it or have done it. parents also
need to closely monitor computer time, and phone time, and be able to block
sites their kids should not be on. kids need to understand computers, and phones
are a privilege, not a right.
craziness is everywhere.

I can't possibly imagine what was going on in that house before this took place.
Probably no father in the house and little if any information besides the news link.
This new technology has turned into a social disease.

I was always assuming that it was boys.
It turns out they were girls and the neighbors said cops were always being called to the house.

Single parents have such a hard time raising kids without a spouse to back them up and support them. Kids these days feel entitled to everything and when they don't get their way they make huge scenes. It's not the parents fault. It just a price of the circumstances. Everyone needs a someone to have their back to enforced some rules or chaos runs rampant.

got a fox problem now.
it grabbed broody mama a much favored hen, before i could stop it.
i took off after it, got broody mama back alive, but not for long. she died
shortly there after. she was a good hen, about 7 or 8 years old. she got nabbed
right in front of the coop. foxes are bad. they are relentless, and will keep coming
back. i can't put the electric fence up until the snow banks melt. i either have to keep
the chickens cooped up or out only under close supervision, or i have to do something
about the fox. its a nice looking animal, but i can't have it killing my chickens.
yesterday, i had the chickens out at the end of the day just for a couple hours, watching
them closely. when they were all in the coop, i was going out to shut them up when goose
started screeching, and running. the fox was in the yard. fortunately, goose is too big for it,
and has the capacity to go into attack mode. no further harm done.
damn fox.

woke up this morning, and saw a couple tom turkeys in full display
each one trying to out do the other wooing a couple hens.
at first, they were in the very back of the property line. with the sun
coming up above and behind them outlining the white edge on their tail
feathers, you could see them from a distance. they slowly made it up toward
the house affording a much closer look. blue heads, bright red at the base of their
necks. the hens seemed to be playing hard to get.
nice way to start the day.
