Attack of the giant stick bug.
What's that on my arm.
I feel something.
It's a male stick bug crawling on my arm.
Most people would freak out.
Not me it ran off.

Texas very close to banning phones for grade and middle school during school hours.
This couldn't happen soon enough in my opinion.
Phone part ok but the rest that comes with the phone is garbage.

Absolutely should not have these “phones” in a classroom. It’s killing these children in multiple ways.

I am for them, having them turned off, and that that be checked on the way into the classroom, but how many kids across the country have called for help or been able to reach their parents when there was an active shooting going on? Can’t believe that’s even a consideration, but it is what it is.

I can't count how many schools I've been in where the cellphone didn't work.Sue_CT wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 8:44 pm I am for them, having them turned off, and that that be checked on the way into the classroom, but how many kids across the country have called for help or been able to reach their parents when there was an active shooting going on? Well, it’s clearly not a problem in those schools anyway

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
I know quite a bit about school security systems and allowing people in.
And locking people out.
We had to walk around with our phones to get reception to find a place to put the cell dialer.
Then pull 300 feet of wire or more from the security system to the dialer to call the police or the fire alarm system to call the fire department.
It's all the concrete and metal.
The schools that have taken phones away are having great results.

Coconut water and bottled in Bond 100 proof Evan Williams bourbon seems to go well with each other.
Just saying.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
The movie Back to the future had Marty McFly playing a Gibson ES 345.
It was 1955.
That guitar wasn't built until 1958 or 59.
He didn't play the guitar and Tim May played the actual music with a custom replica stratocaster.
Now the news is out they're looking for the original Gibson ES that was used in the movie.
It was rented but never returned.
Is it out there somewhere or is it a broken up pile of trash in the city dump.
We'll probably never know.
If they do find it it's worth a ton of money.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
i am pulling for tiger pitcher sawyer gibson-long who is making his season debut.
here is why. he has missed over a year due to injuries. when he made his major
league debut a couple years ago, they had a kid being treated for cancer, might have
been a make a wish, something like that come to the mound, and throw the first pitch.
he said to sawyer that he was nervous. he had never done this before. sawyer told him,
neither have i. sawyer kept up a relationship with the kid. both sawyer, and his mom are
active in community charities.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
Talked to my neighbor the other day.
I had met a guy in his 30s some time ago that was buying my neighbors stratocaster..he was playing it and so on and something about the guy I didn't like.
Later my neighbor told me he used to be a heroin addict and a crack addict.
I'm thinking seriously you let this guy in your house.
He was playing in a band with my neighbor and my neighbor finally had enough and got rid of him because he was getting drunk all the time.
Well back to the other day T my neighbor told me the guy asked him to give him a ride to a gig in another town..he did and he said something was off about the guy
His description told me it was meth.
The guy lives with his mother because he can't support himself.
His mother was there and she told my neighbor be was on meth.
She said she was going to try and get him in rehab and get a disability check from the government for being an addict.
That's when I came unglued.
I said so this blank hole gets a government check that our taxes pay for because he's a dead beat drug addict and a convicted felon.
He isn't even allowed to drive a car.
My neighbor showed me a video he took of him playing the guitar on meth at the bar
He looked like a cockroach on Bug spray.
Sounded horrible too.
Anyone want to take in a stray drug addict and keep it as a pet?
I'm sticking with cats.
