I would also love to grow this if it grows correctly for you.habitat-gardener wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 1:41 pmI’m growing it this year!mamadisalvo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:13 am …Jesse Saylor is the name I gave to this variety that's been in my family for a long time.
Jesse Saylor was my great grandfather who lived in Crab Orchard (Harlan County), KY. He died in 1968 at age 80. He always grew these tomatoes and loved to eat them sliced with a teaspoon of brown sugar on top (!). I've no idea where or how he acquired them. My family has been saving and sharing them since then. Pretty sure I'm the only one keeping this strain around, so I just called this particular tomato by his name.
It's a big pink slicer that takes a while to mature. Keeps fairly well off the vine. In size and appearance it might be compared to Mortgage Lifter or Stump of the World. Would love it if you all could grow it and pass it around!
