Other civilizations will arise, and with them, other experimental spaghetti sauces.

Re: Cheap Eaten
The other day I had to work late for a fire Marshall inspection.
Was really hungry so I got an 8 piece dark fried chicken from the store.
Krispy Krunchy.
Ate 4 pieces and saved the rest for supper two days later.
Put a potato in the microwave last might on five minutes and it came out colder than when it went in.
Well we will just cut the thing up in thick slices and and cook them in a skillet with a little oil.
Might as well cut two large onions in half and cook them too.
Darn I might as well add chili powder not much just a sprinkle on everything.
Let the olive oil suck it up.
I heat the chicken up in the skillet as the skillet is warming up and flipping it ever now and then.
Keeps it crunchy.
After it was over I had a huge plate of the potato slices and half cooked onion and the left over fried chicken for supper.

Not cooking, but having a favorite smoothie - a banana, two large chunks of frozen pineapple, a few drops of coconut flavoring, some chia seeds (I always put these in the beginning, when first liquified, then let them gel, before continuing), and enough ice cubes to thicken it. Some rum would have been really good in it, but I'll be working in my workshop, so not a good idea!

Tonight's dinner at work, two kangaroo burgers, an egg, potato, carrot, cucumber, Captain Lucky tomato and some garden sorrel with a bit of green Tomato relish to go on the potato

Re: Cheap Eaten
Distinctive, hard to compare it to something you would have eaten, maybe as a richer beef.
We eat a lot of it in various forms, available here as burgers, a flavored meat balls, which we turn into mini burgers about 2 inches across which the kids love, steak, both plain and marinated and occasionally as a roast. eats very well in and Indian style curry (actually would go very well in slow cooker). It is a very lean meat at 2% fat naturally, so you have to apply oil to your cook surface to prevent sticking

Re: Cheap Eaten
Last night was cheaper than dirt.
My second jar of pickled beets were opened and man were they good.
It was the one with extra cloves.
I had with them a small hamburger patty and a can of fried sweet corn in butter.
I drank the juice and fried the corn in a skillet with a 1/4 stick of butter a little salt and sugar till they started to turn a little brown.
Very tasty.

Re: Cheap Eaten
I had some left over chicken from Golden Chick I had for lunch the other day.
I bought the ten piece leg and thigh thing.
It is slowly heating up in a cast iron skillet.
I wanted mashed potatoes with it and and I was about to haul the peels out to the compost pile and toss them.
Then I remembered I can make fried russet potato skins with them so they are now in a small bowl of water with fruit fresh and salt added in the refrigerator.
I'll have them tomorrow.
The other side is green beans with bacon.
The only bacon I buy is bacon ends and pieces.
A bargain in itself.

Re: Cheap Eaten
I made ramen with leftover smoked pork butt slices from the freezer and 1beef ribs from last night. Ramen is so versatile and anything works. Added some veggies with cilantro and fresh minced garlic at the end topped with Sambal and sweet soy sauce.

Amazing Breast Sandwich
Took half a breast from my brine pounded out flipped in flour and fried.
Tater skins are from the other day.
They have been in water and fruit fresh.
Mayonnaise dill relish lettuce and cheese.

Re: Cheap Eaten
Thank you.
The chicken breasts were free and the potato skins were garbage that didn't make it to the garbage.
The cheese was free too.
It all came from a guy moving out and going to Arizona.
If I wouldn't have taken it, the stuff would have all been tossed out.
Even if I would have had to of bought the stuff it is still cheap considering you can feed two people off of one chicken breast this way.

I don't always make cornbread but when I do.
This one is with white corn meal and flour.
Black pepper salt and sugar.
Homemade hog lard to boot.

That looks really good! How much sugar do you put in? I like mine a little sweet, to the horror of most Southerners, lol. Damn Yankee is what I am. lol. But we often like our cornbread sweet and that is how I buy it in the local grocery, also, made in store.
