Cottonseed Meal, Cottonseed Hulls, Rice Hulls
Anyone use these in their garden? Benefits, disadvantages.
Looking to continue to improve my soil and these products have caught my attention. Read good things from varies vendors, but, of course they are selling them. Shared real life experiences help paint a truer picture.

I have been using a raised bed mix from hummert that contains the rice hulls. I use it like compost with plants I plant in the field, handful or two in the planting hole. My giant super sack of the mix is on year two in my driveway and the rice hulls have broken down noticeably.

I was waiting for hoards of people to chime in.
Didn't happen.
I use the cotton seed meal you feed to cattle.
Some don't agree with me others have thanked me.
Your choice.
Not only does it add nitrogen it helps the soil and acidifies it.
Last time I bought any it was around twenty bucks for a fifty pound sack.
Texas A&M has good information on it.
Also Crimson Clover.

You can't argue with a closed mind.
You might as well be arguing with a cat.

I buy rice hulls for $9.95 a 3 cu ft. Compressed from AM Leonard. Sometimes they have free freight offers and other times its $5.. Mix it in my planting mix as if it were perlite. works well.
