A co-worker bet me $5 that I wouldn't eat the worm in the bottom of a bottle of Mezcal. I ate the worm.

I have done most things that people dare me. Someone dared me to fire them, so I did.

meh 'a dare' is easy to ignore mostly BUT a Double Dog Dare has to be done. It is a law. I went streaking! (need a blushing emoticon)

Back when I was a teenager was the time for dares. Ever play the card game, knuckles? In the winter we changed the rules where the loser had to run around the outside of the house barefoot in the fresh snow. You never wanted to pull an ace or a face card. :(

From very young age and throughout my life to this day people learn not to dare me to do anything.
Because if I take the dare it means a counter dare.
It never comes out good for the person that dared me.

I dare you to jump off the house.
No.
Why, 'You chicken?
I might get hurt.
You are chicken.
If I'm chicken why dont you jump off the house unless you are chicken????
Alright I will.
After the ambulance comes and a broken leg later.
Ge the point.
Not trying to toss a wet rag on the subject but this is how my mind works and it has kept me in good shape for years.

When I was a child our family home had a covered patio. So technically, it wasn't the roof of the house, it was from the top of the covered patio... probably only eight feet down to the ground. Anyway, I jumped off and got the wind knocked out of me. I thought I was going to die. :o

I did this a few times on a dare... climb a white pine that's about 25-30 feet tall, climb as far up as you can, reach up as far as you can, grab hold with two hands and jump outward not letting go. I never had a bad landing.

People must have only dared me to do things that were extremely stupid or unsafe or stuff I knew Mommy wouldn't want me to do. I said no. (Boring, I know.)

Better safe, than sorry. You're still around to talk about it. Today, I don't want to hear about any "extreme" athlete in another death defying stunt.

There is a program on some over the air network called Fail Army, which consists mainly of short clips of people doing some crazy things. And while watching that with my wife, I am usually commenting on how serious injuries didn't result. Sometimes these clips give me a twinge, as if I was in the clip. I think they also have their own website and are on YouTube under the Fail Army name. Recently there was one which showed what Tormato had described doing, but the individual's branch snapped and he fell at least 15-20 feet to the ground, probably landing on some thick forest debris.

A branch will snap. Jumping straight out while holding onto the header, the best way I can describe it, is something like pole vaulting in reverse.

We also used to jump in the flood waters of the creeks/small rivers and swim with scuba diving flippers on our feet.
Not cheap ones either but high quality ones.
You couldn't afford to have one come off you would drown or at least have to swim down stream to get out.

Rappel off a tall cliff with no training. The only scary part was when I was upside down hanging on for dear life.
