South Of The Equator

Come on you fellows, that live on the lower half of the planet. Surely something is happening with your tomato growing? I'm starving for a good tomato report. I've never been below the Equator. So I'm totally ignorant about it. But in my mind, some of you good people should be ready to pick something from the vine shortly ? Surely there is at least some type of tomato news down there? Don't tell me you Australians stopped growing maters ? There is over 30 countries below the equator. Someone has to have some sort of tomato progress report ? How tall is your plants ?

Yes my tomatoes are only just starting to ripen, need to update this phone also to make my life a bit easier posting photos since camera died when I dropped it. Nannon in Newcastle who is a fair bit further north is just starting to get ripe fruit while further north the humidity has taken care of Volvo's plants

[mention]Whwoz[/mention] Can you handle the whole Southern Hemisphere solo? That is a lot of turf to cover all by your lonesome! Where’s Chile, Brazil, the guays, and Argentina when you need them? Come on New Zealand, five million souls and not one tomato report! South Africa, I have relatives there, maybe I need to touch base with them and see what’s being grown tomato-wise now in Pretoria and Cape town.

Maybe the below 30 degrees north latitude Northern Hemisphere Florida, South Texas, Arizona, Hawaii fall/winter tomato growers will oblige with some juicy tomato porn soon.My buddy in nearby Clear Lake I think is still picking fruit. If I could only get Meadowlark and some of the other great local forum gardeners on here. Everything he grows looks beautiful, including his tomatoes.

[mention]karstopography[/mention] Unfortunately I cannot cover the whole of the southern hemisphere by myself. As you point out, lots of different areas have no input into this forum. Forums are certainly dying down under as people move to other social media platforms and in some areas there is a language barrier as well. No easy answers I am afraid

Why do we call south down and north up?
We live on a ball.

Historical [mention]worth1[/mention] and may even have religious origins where anything up referenced to heaven, down to he'll and when magnetism was discovered up equalled north and down became south. Maybe other reasons why too.
