POLL: North American Seed Vendors

My very first poll I decided to create out of curiosity and would like to know your personal experience with the seeds vendors and whom you would highly recommend. I hope this isn´t too controversial. Sometimes I am unsure if I would be opening a can of worms as I am utterly new in the forum realm. Just all in good fun and curiosity is all. Thank you for your time and patience. :D (can only add a limited number of poll options - sorry)

Oh Oh! Just realised and noticed that the Poll got done over again coz I made changes. Soooooooooooooooooooo sorry everyone. Learnt the hard way - note : Never ever edit a POLL created!

No doubt, appreciate all the opinions, experiences, inputs, feedbacks!

I love Baker Creek but I mostly buy live plants rather than seeds from them. In the Spring there are a great selections of tissue cultured exotic edible fruits of named cultivars for sale at amazing prices, with free shipping.

I would give high marks to all but J&L gardens which is only because I have not used them. Delectation of Tomatoes gets above average based on such a wide selection and Dale's hand written notes with personal care. Heritage Seed Market is also great people and service. These are two places that I love doing business with.

I don't buy many seeds at all, so I can't comment about any of the vendors on your list except Casey's, which I bought a few seeds from once (maybe 7 years ago) and they were good enough and true type.
Another vendor I found to be excellent was Tradewinds Fruit. Their prices are very reasonable, seed counts high, germination also excellent and even pepper seeds were good up to 3 years later.

I enjoy watching Renaissance Farms taste test videos .. but haven't purchased seed from any of those listed. We have a large local seed company here on the West Coast - I generally purchase seeds from their store ..... I do enjoy swapping seed for hard to find varieties and also consider the cost of US/Canada shipping somewhat prohibitive

I prefer to get seeds from vendors in order to minimize the chance of crossed seeds. I bag blossoms but not many do.

I like J&L and Baker Creek for the free shipping, but I buy from whomever has the seeds I'm looking for.

Are we talking just tomato seeds here? I buy most of my other vegetable seeds from Pinetree.

There are a number of other very good tomato seed sources already mentioned that are not on the poll, which I have used. I've only purchased from two of the ones listed in the poll, but since I don't have any experience with the others I don't feel my rating would mean much.

I like Baker Creek (for other stuff). They have free shipping, give a freebie, and are very fast.

I like Bunny Hop (part of Heritage Seeds) as well as J&L Gardens and Victory for tomato seeds. I also buy from Artisan Seeds.

I have gotten most of my tomato seeds in swaps or people generously sharing with me. I have had good luck with Baker's Creek but haven't heard of the other places listed. I forgot about Bunny Hop and Muddy Bucket Farm!!

Sorry worth, just that I am only aware of a few limited vendors, thanks for letting me know about this vendor too. :)

I added to the poll as other vendors. ;)

I really like Victory, Tomato Growers Supply and Reimer Seeds, also. Most of my seeds by far Come from TGS or Victory seeds. Then the Sample Seed Shop and Reimer, and a few from Tatiana. The sample Seed Shop is great if you don't need a large amount. I thought Tatiani was closing, though? I don't see any information on her website about 2019 sales. I highly recommend Sample Seed Shop for those trying out new varieties that you might not continue to grow and you don't want invest a lot in the seeds.

The poll list is pretty small and does not have my favorites. Excellent seeds, prices and customer service: Remy (Sample Seed), Tatianna, Glenn (Sand Hill), TGS; J&L is on the poll and has never been a problem for me. Some listed on the poll have sent me wrong seed and have other problems. Absolutely no problems with my favorites...maybe that is why after more than twenty years of purchasing, the cream has risen to the top of my list.

Really a big oversight. Yours and Tania's need to be there. (And J and L, and Baker Creek shouldn't.)

In no particular order vendors I have had
good luck with and would recommend are:
Heritage Seed Market
Victory Seeds
Delectation of Tomatoes
Sample Seed Shop (Remy)
Tradewinds Fruit
Seeds Now (smaller packets when I want
to try out something new and very good customer service)
Baker Creek when I can't find it elsewhere.
I've heard great things about Sand Hill but
have no personal experience with them.
USDA Zone 9b, Sunset Zone 13
Average Rainfall 9.5 inches

I will use whomever has what seeds I want, with a few exceptions. I won't use Ebay or Amazon (unless it's the only place on the internet). There are probably good folks but I don't trust that they all know what they're doing or if they're telling the truth.
