Some goings on in my garden today

[mention]Gardadore[/mention] The TRMs infest every year, but they are really bad this year. I suppose it was a fair season before they struck, but fruit wasnt very large this year, probably my fault. I planted too early and it was still hot and humid, and the first blossoms shriveled and fell. Normally I plant out in time for blossoms to open right as its getting cooler, and I get much better fruit and size.
They are really delicious this year though.

I see the rest of the country is so cold. And we are 8-13 degrees above normal. (Too hot)The stupid Bermuda High pressure zone isn't letting cold fronts through.

it is currently 86 degrees here. thats what the thermostat says near the wood stove.
outside,,,,,,,different story. close to zero. it is pretty though with all the fresh fallen
new snow.

Thank you. I've actually never seen more than a dusting of snow in my almost 65 years. I did see 10 inches of sleet one year though, when I lived in Atlanta. No one knew how to drive in it.

The trellis is cut from a roll of field fence. It is galvanized and has 6" square openings, good to spray through, and to get large tomatoes from. By a company with Red something in the name.

I use the same for all of my trellises and tomato cages. Had to buy a new roll last year and it will probably last me "the rest of the way".

Red Brand fencing. It's about the only kind they sell around here.

It's been a warm winter here, too, but it's Idaho, so, it's still cold. I mean on an average winter, it might get to -3 to -12° F. (with -26° F. being the record low), but we haven't even approached 0° F., yet (maybe not even 5° F.) It's mostly been hovering around what I consider to be seed-starting temperatures for my unheated greenhouse (low temperatures in the high twenties to early forties). February can be our coldest month, though, and it's not over yet. We've had a number of similar warm winters recently, too.

Those TRM remind me of our spider mites, except our spider mites cause russetting on watermelon instead of tomatoes, and they sometimes spin webs (but not as often as people seem to think spider mites should spin webs; there might be visible webs on 0 to 5% of the damage, except when it gets really advanced). They seem to spread a fungal disease to the watermelon foliage, too (probably anthracnose or a similar pathogen). They could be a hybrid mite. Some watermelons are immune to the russetting on the fruits, but the leaves still get hit. Are there some tomato varieties with unaffected fruits? I wonder if they would affect Chef's Choice Orange F1's fruits.

Some thick walled deliciously sweet peppers that I got seeds sent from friends. Palmyra is above, from my friend in Australia, and Lesya below it is from my neighbor in Florida. The hand is my husband's, lol.

I was going to ask if it was growing conditions that made them more pointed, but looked up Lesya and they are known for being that way, "heart shaped". Very nice!

Thank you, production is medium for me, but it's enough with all my other peppers. Lesya tastes the best of the 2, but I'm in love with both. Palmyra is from Syria.
